Yet Another Green/Gold Antifreeze Question -please Vannies

Hello All,
Searched archives and posts but still wondering---

Here is my situation.
Bought a 96 E350 PSD about a year ago. Tested the anti-cavitation mixture before buying, tested perfectly. Decided I want to flush/refill now. The antifreeze in my system looks light yellow/gold to me. Definitely does not look like the typical bright green "regular" antifreeze. It's very pale, not bright at all.

I have read here that my van came from the factory with the green antifreeze plus additive. I'm guessing that it was "switched over" at some time to gold or yellow [is there a gold AND yellow type, or are the people here that say yellow really meaning gold?]

Anyway, how can I tell exactly what type I have in there now?

AND, will it hurt to switch back to regular green and use the additive, no matter what is in there now?

Hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, so far I just can't tell by looking.
Thanks-

Interesting question. I'm not sure what the yellow shows if you test it with the strips.

Seems like I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't try and use the yellow unless your truck came from the factory that way.

Should be lots of info in the old 7.3 archives. The pickups haven't had the yellow more than 3 or 4 years.

Sorry I don't know more.

Thanks Yardbrew. Whatever I have in the system tests perfectly. I too have read that if your truck came with green you should stick to that, apparently someone thought it was OK to change to yellow/gold, although mine came with green I think.

Heck,

I'd just keep testing it. If it continues to test OK with the strips, it seems reasonable to just leave it alone.

In the meantime, I would keep searching for the reason that F**d doesn't want us to change from green to gold.
