2012 or 2013 F350 Dump Truck axle ratio?

Anyone out there with C&C f350s?

I have changed my mind on what I want for a truck, at first I was going to get a pickup to replace my truck, But I am thinking it will be more beneficial for my business if I replace my dump truck instead.

I am looking at a 2013 xlt F350 dump truck. It will be used for my landscaping business and it will tow a 20' enclosed car hauler trailer. Loaded up weight will be around 9k every day with probably a couple thousand in the dump body. Always used to haul material also. I cant make up my mind which rear end to get in it. Either the 3.73 or 4.10. I know the 3.73 will do it fine, but since I tow every day would the 4.1 be more beneficial? it very rarely will run empty since it is strictly a work vehicle?

I know the 3.73 will get better mileage empty but with it always towing i feel like the 4.1 wont have to work as hard at it. The driving it will be doing will be a good combination between city and highway.

Thanks guys!

We bought a Cab/Chassis 2012, it came with a 4.10 or 4.30 rear end. I highly recommend it. You have to take into account the C/C setup comes with a derated engine. With the 6 spd auto tran it is the smoothest HEAVY truck I've ever driven.

I would skip the F350 and step up to the F450 or F550. If you put a good dump bed on a F350 it will weigh 1500 - 2000lbs. That leaves little room for pay load. Even with my F450 I can only haul 3 ton legal but the F450 has much bigger breaks, axles, and heavier tires. I have 4.30 gears in mine. Only time I wish I had 4.88 is when I load the truck to max and then hook up 14,000lbs trailer. The truck crys when I do that to it

If I read correctly the 450 are for towing more and the 550 are for hauling on truck more.

Thanks guys

I did end up realizing that the F350 was de-tuned in C&C after making this thread, at first I thought it was only the 450 and 550 that were de-tuned, didn't realize that also included the 350.. That is very disappointing. Why do they do that? You need the power more with the C&C than a pickup!! Since I now know that the 350 is also de-tuned, i will definitely be going with the 4.10.

I was leaning away from the de-tuned engine because they have more problems with those than the pickup engines. (turbos and valves dropping and ruining the engine)

Have they fixed the turbo problem at all? I heard that was huge at first. How bad is this problem? I have heard of some people losing the turbo every 8-10k miles...

I do actually want a 450 because of the greater turning radius and the extra payload, but I know registration and insurance will be significantly more than the 350.. Anyone in the NH area know how much more they typically run?

Thanks Crystal! I am not sure if I will be ordering it through the website or not, that is what I was leaning towards but I have found a couple new 2012 leftovers that i have my eye on right now. I am still about a month or so out from ordering one at this point, I want to get a few other things in the business straightened out first. I appreciate the help though

go look at specs on any class 4-6 truck. Horsepower over 250 is non-existent except for the horse trailer and RV toter market. FL Sport Chassis and IH models targeted at Emergency, fire, and custom chassis have some 330 HP offerings.

Thats a good point.. they must have different setups as far as axle ratios and transmission ratios? I know the power of the C&C is enough, but I still wish it had the power the pickup does.. So much so That I may start looking at pickups instead.. I will be towing a lot of weight on a daily basis, and also towing up to 14k occasionally, and if im spending close to 50k on a truck, i want the power of the pickup

You can always buy the pickup and do a bed delete after you take delivery. There are plenty of junkyards around that would buy new take off pick up beds from guys doing this. The only disadvantage you end up with the frame for an 8ft bed, which is a little short for a dump body.

This question doesnt really have anything to do with this thread, but I dont want to start a pointless new thread in the forum.
This may be a question for Chrystal, or if anyone knows the answer then thats good too

On the build your own truck on the ford website they do a lot of weird things that make absolutely no sense to me.. For example, I want the lariat interior package to have the heated and cooled seats, but it wont let me do that with 20" aluminum wheels. Why? you can have heated seats if you have 18" wheels, but absolutely not if you have 20" wheels? That just doesnt make any sense to me.. Is there a way around that? any explanation as to why?

2012 or 2013 F350 Dump Truck axle ratio?

Yeah I was gonna ask about a pick up bed delete (if ordered) or taking off factory bed. Is it easy to adapt a pu frame rail to your dump bed? Otherwise seems like a 450 would be the way to go to get to full benefits of a chassis cab.

As long as you don't mind a short dump bed(8' is considered short) you can make it work. Most of the cab/chassis options have a 10-12 foot frame for longer beds.
