Redneck, There are a Whole lot more people very happy with their trucks vs the few that have had any problems. The few problems with rough shifts and other various problems have not been as wide spread as the problems we saw with the 6.0L roll out. Where almost everybody had to go in for numerous reflashes.

I just wouldn't say there are major problems. Yes there are folks who have had problems, But just not wide scale problems that the population of owners are all watching for. The problems we are seeing are with in reason for the number of trucks on the road.

I would do it again in a second. With all the parts in these trucks anything can go wrong but for most the trucks are worry free.

There are no major problems with the 2011s so I'm not sure why you make such a statement, especially if you don't own one. There have been some problems, as there is with all three major truck builders anytime there is a revision and new technology introduced in the first year. From what I have read there are many more totally satisfied owners then people with problems. My 2011 6.7 dually lariat crew cab is the best superduty I have ever owned, and completely trouble free. Well, that's not completely true as I have two problems: I can't get if from my wife who loves to drive it, and the smile on my face when I get behind the wheel may be permanent!! Take the plunge redneckfor6 and you will love it!

i've been wondering this as well as i've had 2 , 6.0l, both with major problems. the only thing i can see that would be a pain is the maintenance issue with respect to the antifreeze. having to go to the dealer every 12 to 15 k would be a pain as i'd have to do this every month.

are there any other maintenance issues i'd have to do, besides the ones i could do myself, like oil changes or TX flushes that i'd have to do at the dealer? Are the chevy or ram trucks like this as well or are they easier to maintain?

You can get the coolant test strips and coolant additives and do the coolant maintenance yourself.

Bigwhite1. If you put that many miles. It would benefite you to just get the coolant strips and test yourself. Most of use dont put enough miles on before they would expire. Trans maintenance. Isn't a issue. Add def fluid as per dash. The rest is pretty much the same maintenance.

The Coolant test isn't a whole lot different that what you have been doing on your 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4L engines, Instead of testing to insure you have nitrites in your coolant, You are now testing to make sure you don't have them, You used to add the VC8 additive on the previous generation engines and now use VC-12 on the 6.7L engine. So nothing really new here other than Ford put a reminder on the dash to remind owners to check the coolant. The 6.7L does have a second test to insure your corrision inhibitor is still good., So two test instead of one and it has two coolant systems, that both need to be tested. So you really do 4 test everytime you need to check your coolant. But it's something you can easily do in a half hour in the driveway.

The Coolant test kit has 10 test strips, divided by two coolant systems means it will do 5 complete test. Most of us don't drive enough to need 5 test before the test strips in the kit hit their expiration date. Hence it more practical to go to the dealer or share a kit with friends. The test is not difficult to do. The hardest part is getting the coolant samples.

As far as other maintenance items. The 6.7L is equal to or longer lifed than the previous engines. Oil change interval is longer, Fuel & Air filters are easier to change.
