This is a pm I had with Cory @ customer service about adding an oil pressure gauge. It sounds like more for BS about warranties. Someone tell me how adding a sending unit for a gauge to monitor our motors would be warranty issue?? I have NEVER herd of a gauge causing an engine problem have you.?
here is the end of the PM.
Curt,
My tech adviser replied that we can’t support adding an aftermarket gauge onto the vehicle. He went on to explain there’s a possibility it could cause severe engine damage.

I am just relaying what I was told. No I do not expect ford to cover parts I may or may not add. But for them to say “He went on to explain there’s a possibility it could cause severe engine damage." Sounds like, his way of saying to me .if you add them you may have a warranty problem .I have had gauges on all my vehicles and none have caused any problems! Matter a fact they have helped me see potential problems. I had a turbo going out on a trip at night and saw OP acting up so I babied it the rest of the way.to where I could get it fixed. I tow a lot and gauges are a tool for me. I use an edge insight .add want to add an oil psi gauge for that reason. I have no plains to mod anything ,since it has all the power I need . I just like to keep an eye on what is going on.

I ran into a problem, albeit with a, dare I say it, Dodge, when I went to trade to my current 6.7 SD. Since I had EGT installed, the Ford dealer 'had to' go to the neighboring Dodge dealer and have a 'Star' request done -- something about ensuring that when they resold it the warranty on the engine would be intact to that date. Took about a day for the technicians to run several different tests (at the behest of Chrysler) before they gave it a clean bill of health and I was able to trade it for what I wanted. Was a great big hassle!! Now, realize that this dealer is not my local dealer -- local dealer would not even take the trade because of the gage. Now on my new truck I have been told to not put anything additional in it as Ford would take a very serious look at it to find any little thing that they could use to avoid a warranty claim.
This said, I've been told the same thing by the local GM dealers as well as the local Chrysler dealers. They are taking a very hard look at warranty claims on their diesels. My own personal feeling is that they are simply trying to stay afloat in these economic times, BUT why at our expense???? Off my soapbox.
