The way various people define 'class' I sort of figure that in Ford's case it means "Big Pickup Trucks with blue ovals on the front", and for Chevy it means "Big Pickup Trucks with bowties on the front" and for Dodge it means "
Big piles of rust"....
The new Government Motors will likely cease serious innovation soon. What we see now is innovations and work that was done prior to the nationalization of these once great car companies. I will bet that the only serious rework done to the GM trucks in the next 5 years will be limited to cosmetics and the basic platform will remain static due to lack of real R&D. Dodge was getting real shaky about warranty leading up to the nationalizations. I can't imagine how it would be now trying to get them to fix something. I guess it will become like going to the VA for health care.
In short, you could not pay me to own a GM at this point.

How about still waiting two weeks for a warranty approval on a dodge truck?
This happened to me last month on a 5.9 truck. They only paid half of the claim also, has they said turbo whining with 99k miles was normal. Sounded like it was going to come apart to me.
I was looking at purchasing another dodge for my company, but I purchased a ford instead, and will continue to do that for the remainder.

I guess my VA Health Care analogy does not hold up to reality. To see a specialist you wait LONGER but still get the same answer you did with your turbo! (Dodge 1:VA 0)

I have said it before, and I will say it again- if you take a powerful engine and wrap it with a piece of crap, what you end up with is a powerful piece of crap. Nothing more, nothing less. After the gov't lays their hands on GM's books, the power war will be over, anyway.

hope you dont wait 7 weeks for turbo & egr repairs like i did on my 04 6.0 psd. with only 27,000 miles on odo.... that cost ford an extra $10k with a breach of warranty lawsuit. 2nd dealer replaced turbo and egr in 3 days and all was good again.

With the details presented, it sounds more like an incompetent dealer than a Ford issue. I am sure there is more to the story though.

The Duramax can make 500 hp with just tuning but the EGT's would be too high for heavy towing.
Exactly,I like both duramax and powerstroke,we bought my wife a 08 ford and did the off road tune,I had a 05 lly duramax up till a week ago it had turbo back exhaust and Banks intercooler and PPE,thene I sold it and bought the cadillac EXT,both our trucks had lifts and 36 inch tires and there is no way I would even tried to haul our 18000 pound toy hauler with the duramax,my EGTs would have been through the roof and it would have went into limp mode trying to run 125hp setting, the reason I ended up with the duramax is cause ford had the 6.0 out at the time,my point is my wifes 08 with the mods produces very usable power and never feels like it is being pushed to hard,it reminds me of my old 7.3,they can claim all the HP# they want but it dosent feel that powerfull when its trying twice as hard to do the same job.
