I just bought a brand new 2012 F250 Diesel in August of this year. First off had the transmission front pump leaking, dealers tried to reseal 2 times, right away leaked again, both dealers claimed front pump bolts were loose??? 3rd time in new transmission was installed, new transmission has a vibration/sound in 5th gear, and is leaking fluid too.... Had the truck for 3 months, been in 3 different dealerships here in Las Vegas, total 25 days in Ford dealer service departments. Took back to Ford again for 4th time, this time dealership didnt want to touch truck, was there for 2 days and they told me "take back to previous repairing dealer, per service manager." I don't blame them for not wanting to touch my truck. 5th time at Ford, made an appointment with previous repairing dealer, service manager there said they are backed up and too busy, "you can't leave your truck here today, you need to come back later, end of the month." Truck is brand new, only 3,000 miles on it. Need everyone help, no one is helping me out with this. I'm waiting on Ford Customer Care to call me back at this point. I'm trying to get a buy back. This is my first Ford ever purchased and it seems like it maybe my last...... I forgot to mention tech broke the shifter cable, transmission harness was left laying on the driveshaft, clips on wire harness broke, etc.... I feel so beatdown
Anyone else got any advice or went through this before? This is the first time for me dealing with a Lemon, it is frustrating, and I feel helpless at this point. I hope Ford will make this right.
...Love the truck but this could be a big issue any help would be helpfull
I apologize for missing your reply to this thread, captnmarcus; I’m happy to help. I still have your truck’s information, so please drop me a line via PM with your approximate mileage.

Bought a new 12 250 in Feb and have had no problems with trans at all with 25,000 miles untill tuesday nite. Left the field i was in and got to town and slowed for red light. It down shifted and felt like you applied the brakes the acted normal, went to next light and same thing. I shut it off and restarted and it acted fine for a few minutes then started same thing but worse. It acted like you were mashing brakes all the time, then it started whining and i pulled over. Checked trans fluid and showed full but has a scorched smell. Had it towed to dealer and they took it out and will evalulate fri to determine whether to put new one in or rebuild old one. Has anyone else had this problem? Tow truck guy said he has hauled " several " with this same exact problem. ps all this happened at low speed in town 1 st and 2 cd gear, wonder what would have happened at highway speed.
Wow, drewfarms. That is the exact reason I am so afraid of mine now and it is only 3 months old.... They put a new tranny in my 2012 and I'm still having problems. Good luck make sure you contact Ford Corp ASAP, as you are close to your 1 yr mark. Good luck!
I only have 4991 miles on my truck and was very embarrassed when taking my father-in-law for his first ride. We only made it to the end of my street before numerous warnings starting blinking. I put it in park to read the failure warnings and decided to go back home but it wouldn't move. I could hear and feel it popping into gear, but simply would not move when pressing the accelerator. So, my father in law walked back while I waited for the tow truck.
To abbreviate, my transmission is the problem and I'm driving a rental provided by the dealer.
I wish I had done my research before purchasing the 2012 F250SD. Now I'm stuck with a brand new $58,000 truck that I cannot trust driving.
BTW, the road side assistance worked great. The tow truck was there in about 30 minutes.

If it helps you sleep better. I bought a 2003 F350 back when the 6.0L first came out. One of the first 6.0L in the state. With in a month the tranny failed. Dealer pulled the tranny and air frieghted a new tranny in and installed it. I had the truck back in 5 days.
I drove it for 3 years and put about 90,000 miles on it and that tranny never hiccupped again. Give the dealer a chance to fix it.
With my 2011, I had a couple rough shifts. Took it in at 35,900 miles and mentioned the rough shifts and steering oscilation, They fixed both of them under warranty. It's been a year and half since and I'm up to 76,000 mile and neither problem has returned.

Karl,
I seem to be having the same problems with my father in laws 2012. Incidentally I was riding with him and the very same issues came up but thankfully we made it back home going about 5 MPH. Truck is at dealer now, they claim to be familiar with the issue so hopefully it is corrected. I am not optimistic after reading many posts regarding this problem on here and other forums.
Guys I don't think the fix is to put a 2012 Transmission, since my truck is a 2012 F250 Super Duty Diesel and has problems still. My truck has the production date of 8/11. Original transmission leaked tranny fluid, then they put a new transmission off of assembly line and now it has humming/vibration in 5th gear, shifts hard at times, leaking gear or transmission fluid too. Truck was brought brand new and started its down fall after 1 month of ownership and little over a thousand miles.
Been battling against Ford Motor Co. for over a month now. They denied buyback when the facts are clear. Ford knows transmission are a known problem. I also gave them a few chances to fix, and seems dealerships can't get it right, 3 different dealerships tried already. If any of you are having problems please post up on Ford Service Twitter Site, @FordService other need to know about the know problems with this truck. I do feel for all of you that purchased a brand new truck and never had that new vehicle feeling and confidence like myself. To get anything done is worse than getting your teeth pulled, they will just make you wait and wait and wait.....
I will keep all of you posted on what happens, I have an arbitration with the BBB and Ford Motor Co, (who will be on the phone) during the meeting on DEC 31st at 9am. Again, solution is simple, but Ford wants to make it hard for their own customer, first time Ford owner, just spent 50k to have a headache for months, dragged case on till the new year, Thank you Ford! Again SOLUTION IS SIMPLE!
To all you others on the forum, MERRY XMAS guys, have a good one! If you need help on how to go about issues let me know, i'm learing as I go through this nightmare and can help.

Reading your previous posts, if sounds like you have had a bad experience with a dealer. I have been through bad dealers, and even worked for them, but I wouldn't hold that against FoMoCo.

Crystal, what my dealer cannot do is restore faith and convidence in the truck's ability to carry me, my wife, and our 2 small boys across the country while towing a fifth wheel without breaking down.
You see, I actually sold my Class A RV to buy this truck and a fifth wheel. Until now, I had not considered the real benefit of towing a car with my Class A versus pulling a fifth wheel. If the CLass A broke down, I had my towed car for backup. With a fifth wheel I MUST depend on the truck.
So here's my question to you, "Would YOU feel safe taking small children across the country in my truck?"
I can tell you that my wife is very upset about it and refuses to take that chance, as do I.
Now if you can address that problem, I'll be happy to send you my information for assistance.
I have no complaints with the service from my dealer. Their transmission specialist is on vacation and I agreed to wait for his return on Monday. While I wait, the dealer has provided me with a full size rental car. I was driving the rental within one hour of calling road side assistance. Bottom line, I'm very happy with their response to my problem.
Again, thanks for offering your assistance.

Hi Karl,
Let me know how things go at the dealership. If you'd like my assistance, I'm always just a PM away.

Im not holding anything against Ford Motor Co, I love the truck but just got one thats been a nightmare from the beginning. I would be Fords biggest fan if I haven't spent so much time in service to still have it not right. I never had that new truck feeling/confidence and am afraid to drive it much.
I'm just venting my frustration on this waiting game and trying to help others so they will know the proper procedure on this. I never had a new car with problems so I had to learn the steps as I go.
Gtstang462002 do you have a 2012 or 2011 F250? If so how is yours? Have you had any problems? Engine is AWESOME huh!
