Crystal,

Thank you for the offer. However, my FIL no longer owns the truck and traded for a very low mileage 2010, which seems to be the best option for a new truck these days. The dealership was extremely responsive and provided service above and beyond expectations.

I'm just venting my frustration on this waiting game and trying to help others so they will know the proper procedure on this. I never had a new car with problems so I had to learn the steps as I go.

Gtstang462002 do you have a 2012 or 2011 F250? If so how is yours? Have you had any problems? Engine is AWESOME huh!
I own a 2011 F350 DRW. My only issue that I have had with the engine is an exhaust leak when it is cold outside. I have the shudder issues as well as the transmission delay issues when cold. I all love my truck, and have found a good dealer that is taking care of my issues. I guess my confidence in my equipment is boosted by my ability to repair it on my own regardless of dealer support. I own a repair shop and Ford diesels are my specialty, though I will work on them all.

If you think you have a problem, and you know you do when you are the one driving it everyday, stay after Ford to fix it. I couldn't get service through the dealer on mine and was refused the opportunity to talk with a factory rep. Nobody would admit I had a tranny problem until it was way past warranty. Of course, then I certainly could get help if I paid for it. Ten years later it is still a problem that I don't like, but have learned to live with. It certainly has prevented me from plunking down the $60,000 to buy a new one. Beyond that though, I still like my (now) 12 year old truck.

Exclamation 2012 F250 shift problems

I do have shift problems on my 2012 F250 4x4 loaded. Total miles to date are 9,200. Transmission hunts when shifting 1-2. You cannot drive this truck at a slow speed without jumping in and out of 2nd gear. On level ground, statring from a dead stop requires hard acceleration to prevent falling out of gear shifting 1-2. First service call the dealer said they performed a minor computer adjustment. Second service call the dealer said the entire computer program had to be erased and reprogrammed. Now at the third service call the dealer says the transmission pump is sucking air somewhere and starving the pump.
The local dealer says FMC calls their service tech for consultation. I am concerned of the log term affects.

any comments would be welcomed.

23950 miles. No problems with trans even towing a 21k lb GN Dump. Has driveline shudder off the line though, not a trans problem.

I'm currently having the same issue as SCREWY in one of the other blogs with my 2012 F350. I'm at 41000k and I've started to experience groaning and banging noises from the power train when I'm travelling at low speeds (mostly 1st and 2nd gears). This has just started in the last 1000k or so and now occurs frequently but not all of the time, usually after start up. If I stop and shift from drive to park and then back to drive the issue goes away completely until the next time I park and shut the truck off for a long duration. I do a fair bit of towing with a 18ft by 6 ft enclosed trailer and I never have this problem while towing, always when unloaded. The truck actually shifts remarkably smooth while pulling heavy loads with lots of power to go with it. Is this also a driveline slack issue ? My dealer tells me it's probably part of the break in. How could this be part of the break in if its just started now? My 2007 Duramax with the Allison had never experienced anything like this while it was breaking in. I love my truck however I'm not impressed with the customer service. Does anyone have any advice for this problem?

Hi kwylie,

I'm happy to look into this for you and see how I can help. Send me a PM with your VIN, preferred servicing dealer, full name, and daytime phone number. I'll get to work!

Hi Jpopyk,

Have you contacted Ford Canada so they can assist? You can reach them at 1-800-565-3673. Keep me in the loop and let me know how things progress.

Thanks!

Crystal

Very good question, the problem is a lot of the 2012s still have very low mileage, and some don't notice the issues untill they get worse, also when they started the production of 2012, they didn't even know that there was a problem, let alone have the problem fixed, the complaints just started to come in. In fact to this day, I don't think that they know what the actual cause of the issues is or what parts are bad inside the transmission, they have been throwing parts at my 2011 superduty tranmission for months now, still have issues, and noone can give me any answers at ford about the problem/solution to it. They are just simply aware that there is a problem, but have no known treatment for it, besides the guesses of reprogramming computer, solenoid replacements, and some pump and torque converter replacements, this leads me to question even the 2013 transmissions at this time. They are very hesitant to give out a new transmission, I believe because they think the same problem has a high chance of manifesting in the new one at this point. I wanted a new transmission to be put in last year, to this day they still have not done so, and at this point i've had enough. I gave them so much time ( 4 months total at dealer) to repair or replace it, now I just want a new vehicle or my money back, and I've tried to deal directly with FORD to get this done and they denied me. In fact they sent me back from the dealer yesterday, vehicle un-repaired, not even admitted into the shop, they MADE me leave with it having a terrible grinding noise at torque converter/fllexplate area, for the SECOND TIME now in a row. The first time they replaced the starter, and said they fixed it. They have put my whole drivetrain at risk now, here is a video of the noise my truck makes, sorry its a dark video, shot it at night, and sorry if its upside down, first time uploading video:

Sounds like it's time to seek a legal remedy. Lemon law may apply.

They are on their last chance right now to make it right, i have a binder full of service paperwork for proof, as thick as a bible, I have witnesses that have witnessed my ongoing problems willing to sign affidavits, I have pictures and videos for additional proof, and I have the truck, which I can start right up for anyone to see all the issues with it, the stress is affecting my health, I am physically drained and mentally exhausted, not to mention how this affects my finances, BUT I will NOT go away. In fact I am fully prepared to take this to the next level, I'll escelate this myself if I have to.

2012 F250 shift problems

Just received my truck back after the third attempt from local dealer. The entire valve body was replaced by the dealer at the objection from FMC. The dealer could not duplicate the problem at this time, however stated they duplicated the problem on the second service call. Also interesting, the dealer said they had many emails from FMC regarding the problem but I cannot have copies of the correspondence. FMC claims it is proprietary information. I am p***ed to say the least. If this shift problem reoccurs, what could possibly be the real problem?
