You’re welcome, Mel. It’s great your truck was fixed.

I love my new 2012 6.7 F350 (except for the shudder), this truck is light years ahead of my 2004 6.0 F350 cc lb; it drives and rides like a dream. When I'm towing my 35' fifth wheel (dry weight - 11000 lb), I don't even know that it's back there.
My son drove the rig while we were in route to a camp ground and two weeks later he swapped his 2006 6.0 F350 on a new 6.7 F350. He tows a 40' fifth wheel and on a recent trip he stopped at the top of a hill at my site and asked if I had trouble coming up the hill, I said you have shudder - right - and he said yes - I thought the drive line was going to fall out on the hill (at low speed). Both of us have towed up the same (100 yd) hill for 9 years and never experienced anything like this.... After that hill I talked to my dealer and they are oblivious to the problem or as what to do..?? I hope the new drive shaft fixes the problem; otherwise I will fix it with traction bars. After a lot of research I'm convinced that the root cause is softer springs causing axle wrap.

One thing I did notice though-just while normal driving the overall feel of the truck is tighter. Maybe I'm crazy.
Thanks for the update, Tony M 6.7; have you had a chance to tow yet?

Hey folks... I am the "son" that pulled my fifth wheel up the dreaded hill. Before I bought my truck in July I knew of the potential shudder. I didn't realize how bad it could be. I have not contacted my dealer yet but will be relaying some of the information about the driveline fix to them tomorrow.
Cory, I will probably PM you with my information as well. As others have stated, thank you for your assistance in this matter. I gotta admit, I love everything about this truck except for the shudder. Other than that it is a pure joy to drive!
I complained about this problem early on (bought my truck in Sept. 2011 and tow a 40" Toy Hauler) and was told by the dealer that there was nothing that could be done. Not satisfied, I continued to press the issue and they installed the shim kit recommended by Ford. Problem still not fixed. I noticed many of you getting a new carrier bearing and drive shaft to cure the problem. What is the secret to getting those pieces installed.
Any assistance would be much appreciated. I love my truck and hope to keep it for many years but the continued presence of the vibration of takeoff when towing a trailer still has me concerned.
Were you able to get around to towing with the truck, Tony M 6.7? Let me know if you want a follow-up call from your regional CSM.

You’re welcome, tcfake613; I see you already spoke with Mark about the concern.

Thanks again,
Racerxray1,
I have your contact information from before, so all I need is your current mileage on the truck. Please drop me a line via PM.
Towed about 8800lbs. today. Smooth as silk. Waiting to put about 11k or so on it. I'll definitely keep you posted.
A follow up call would be fine. Thanks for your interest in this problem.
Racerxray-
When my dealer called Ford regarding the problem, Ford tried to get the dealer to try the shim kit fix. I discussed it further with my dealer and per his recommendation, Ford sent the revised driveline.

This fix is what I would prefer to have done. It appears they will not do anything to my truck unless I drag my trailer to the dealer. My trailer is winterized, parked, and covered until April. I can't do that. I was also told that the fix would be shims. Somebody needs to get Ford on board and advise their dealers that these shims are not acceptable.
Cory, anything you can do would be much appreciated, otherwise I'm stuck with waiting until spring, dragging my 40 ft rig to a dealer 45 min away located in an area of town where space is tight for such a rig. Then I'll have to prove to them what we all aready know.
Would like to note that I PM'd Cory and had a message Tuesday after the Turkey holidays. Playing phone tag now with Autum. Really hope Ford will just go and replace drive shaft and not mess with cheap fix.

Floridatex,
I made sure Autumn is scheduled to call you before the end of the day tomorrow. Please let me know via PM if you have a better daytime phone number to call.
