Henry,

Next time try sending a sample to Blackstone or any other lab and see if the results change.

When the 6.7 hits 7.79% dilution it should give you a "change oil soon" warning.

At 8.2% it should give you a "oil change required" warning.

You should have seen these before you got to 10% dilution.

Did you ask the lab to re-run your sample? I had to do that once at Polaris because a sample had unusual readings. Otherwise I think your plan is good. Re sample at 12-1500 and see what the dealio is. Perhaps this was an anomaly. It is not a trend until you have more than 1 sample with similar results.

your absolutely correct. This is the first sample after the oem oil change. It will be interesting to see what happens with the next one.

I have never sent in a sample and would like to do it. How do I get started? Where do I get a kit and instructions for sending it in?

Thanks!
John

Blackstone is the easiest to get a kit from
Blackstone Labs
I prefer Polaris because of the way BS does fuel dilution
Polaris Testing Kits

It will be in the owners manual. I am not sure of the procedure.

Locking out gears, just means touching the +/- button on your stalk and turning off that gear. If you are in 6th, press the "-" button and it will lock out 6th and truck will only run 1st thru 5th gear. Repeat again "-" and you will now be limited to 1-4th gear.

If you move the shifter from "Drive" to "M" then the +/- will chose the exact gear that you will use.
