. 4 years ago, they had at least 30 F350's / 250's on the lot at any given time. all trim levels and configs, with plenty in the queue ready to come. now, they told me they are bringing in maybe 3 or 4 2011's at a time, that is it.....trying to tighten up price by controlling supply, it seems.
Same thing at our dealership. We keep more than four on the lot, but not as many as before.
However, it seems to be more with supply/demand issues. With many of the F-250/350s used as work trucks, and the economy taking a dive (especially in contruction where these trucks are used), I think the dealers are trying to avoid ending up with trucks that sit on the lot forever
We used to also keep a couple 450/550 dumps on the lot, but not recently.

Impressive, but in real world driving conditions most people will be driving 70-75mph on the interstate, and mpg's wont be anywhere near 30 or probably even 20. I've got a 4 cylinder 3000 pound car that will get only 30-34 mpg on the interstate, so the only way I will believe that this 8500 pound truck with a 6.7L V8 will get that type of mileage is see it myself.
There is a video on you tube of a guy doing a walkaround a 2011 and it's running during the recording. Unfortunately it's read out is 15.6 mpg. There is no doubt that the guy in the op thread is hypermiling as well. But lets hope for 22- 24 and I'm in.
6.7 is a big engine.....as the 6.6 dmax......displacement is displacement and it takes alot fuel to fill those cylinders..

That thing averaged 28.318 MPG someone said he ran 50mph to get that. Hell mine doesn't 20mpg at 50 MPH.

My truck weighs in at 8200 lbs full of fuel. It will get a bit over 22 mpg at a steady 50 mph. I think that 28 mpg in a new EPA'd truck is not realistic, but still I hope for better than the low teens that the 6.4 automatics are getting.

My 7.3 got 21.4 mpg coming from Little Rock to Oklahoma City several years ago in an ice storm. I have a POS Leer cap that sucks about 2mpg off the truck and I was in and out of 4wd the entrire trip. But I was also running about 45mph the entire trip. This gets me into high gear and just above idle. As somebody else has already mentioned, we don't normally drive 50mph!! That truck and run was WAY out in the boonies with NO traffic to contend with and hypermiled. I'm betting real world will be mid teens. You don't make 390hp and get 30 mpg in a 6500# vehicle.
Even Ford is claiming only an 18% fuel mileage increase average for p/u models. That should put it someplace about 18 empty real world. Given it's got almost double the horsepower and more than double the torque, I'll certainly be interested.

Reason: adding info
I agree with you about 18MPG being most likely but if I test drive one and it gets anywhere close to 28 MPG I'll have to get one. Mine get 13.7,13.8 and 15.8 20mpg would put it over the top.

It might be, if it's a new engine built around EPA standards and not the EPA standards built around an existing engine.
April issue of Trailer Life tests a 2011 F-450 with 4.30 gear pulling a 12,900 lb 5th wheel. They claim 16.6 solo and 10.3 towing.
I was hoping to see a better towing number. I get 9-10(calculated) with my F350 DRW 4.10 towing 11,000 TT. Going to run the tires off it that I just put on before I even think about trading up.
Still can't wait to see one at a dealer up here in Canada.

Actually, for an F450, that's a decent improvement over the '08-'10 model, going off what some here have reported.

I can't remember any exact F450 towing numbers but if they were in the area of 8 before then that is a really decent improvement, I guess we'll see lots of numbers soon.
Don't mean to sound like a skeptic, I'm a Ford guy and I hope they have all the previous engine issues behind them.
