'05 450/550's

Do the '05 450/550's have a wider stance? I saw one ona a dealer lot and noticed it came with factory wheel flares up front and 10 bolt wheels.

Re: '05 450/550's

YES!! they do. I was at my truck upfitter last week and he had about a dozen white F-550 4x4's in the yard to get stainless dumps, 11' Viking plows and salt spreaders. The wider stance & wheel flares look

Re: '05 450/550's

I believe that have different outer axles (35 splines?), beefier brakes, and hubs. I think they call it "fat boy axles" sounds like it would make a great addition to a Dana 60.

Re: '05 450/550's

You are correct, 4-Wheel & Off-Road published an article on the '05 Superduty in this months issue in which it talks about the beefier frontend.

Re: '05 450/550's

I just saw a transporter with 3 F-550's on it. I got a chance to look underneath at the frame & front end for a few minutes. It looks like a rugged set-up. The wider stance is lookin great. The coils & trailer arms are massive and the fender flares look tough

No doubt I'm going F-450/550 crewcab with utility body for my next work rig. An F-350 dually would be nice, too, but the 450/550 is a big step up in capacity & toughness.
