2000 Buildout / 2001 Order Bank and Job1

Just pulled down the new News Bulletin from Ford. The 2001 Order Bank opens May 15. NO I DO NOT KNOW THE CHANGES, LOL. The Ordering Guides are NOT out yet. For Buildout / Job 1:

Last Build Job 1
Excursion 7/28 7/31
SD (KTP) 7/28 7/31
SD (Mexico) 8/18 8/21
F 150 8/4 8/7

This is all I have right now.

ford super duty:

Since the order bank opens May 15th does that mean the dealership will have the order guide then too?

If I do order a truck on May 15th should I expect to receive it before september?
Since the truck I ordered in December came in with sever cackle the dealer has promised me first slot on the 2001 model year.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

First off I would like to say that I am new to this site and the Superduty that I purchase will not have the PSD in it. So, I hope that you PSD folks out there will not be too mad at me. The reason that I'm posting on this site is because I find it to be the best resource for Superduty information on the net regardless whether you have a PSD or not. There seems to be quite a few people that know what is going on here.

Anyway, my question is how do they determine which plant the trucks will be built at? I would prefer that the truck be built in the US but I will take which ever will get me the truck the fastest, that is unless you are talking a couple of weeks and then I would wait. Based on the dates that you posted if I were one of the first groups of trucks built for the 01 model year it could be built in Kentucky the first week of August. Would there be any down time period between the change over to the 2001 model year?

TB...welcome to the site! Don't think many will mind that you got the gas hog. I personally don't think you'd be disappointed with a truck from Mexico. Build quality on MExican made trucks has been reported to be as good or better than the KTP trucks. I don't care where they make mine, as long as they make the thing!!!!

Thanks for the information!!! I have a feeling that if I don't have build date from my dealer by the end of June that I'll end up with a 2001 model. Any credence to the comment that someone provided that Ford will honor the 2000 prices for backorders on rollovers to 2001 models? My dealer has gotten some extra allocations for this month, and thinks that he might get some extra allocations for May and June, and said he should know the end of this month. He said if he gets the extra allocations (7 this month) he thinks I might get a 2000 model.

I would expect the new ordering guides to be available "around" May 1.
As to build dates on 2K+1 I would "expect" you would have your truck in September.
For the "Price Protection" with a model year changeover NORMALLY only Government is price protected. This year Ford gave out $500 rebates for those that were flipped over. There were VERY SPECIFIC criteria involved in this and to my knowledge few received this rebate.

Looks like the last day for final scheduling is June 2nd. Date subject to change, of couse

Looks like you're right Louder. Dealer told me today that mine will be a 2001. That means I will have waited 7 months from order to delivery, more than likely. Why, I could be COMPLETELY insane by then.

Anybody know when the factory will crank back up again? xpacr?

I was also told that my order would rollover automatically, unless there are any changes to options that I had ordered. Someone (xpacr I think) mentioned that Ford was looking at a 6 CD changer in the dash. If it is priced at the same cost as the ones in the Expedition I wouldn't mind that. Of course, Ford, to be kind to me for all my patience, could throw it in to the deal for free. HINT HINT to any Ford corporate guys that might read this.

I ordered an '00 F250 this past Monday and my dealer is not sure if the order will be accepted. I have checked with other dealers and no one knows if the Factory is accepting orders. I have been told, 'only large dealers can order', 'not accepting orders''sure 90%gurantee and delivery 10-12 weeks'. Who knows, I have called Ford, they referred me to the dealer, I emailed Ford, no response yet. My dealer is telling me, if the order is accepted, 10-12 weeks delivery. I do not understand why when you can order most things now you find out if it is available and when you can expect it. Ford needs to improve this piece, I know this is a popular truck but good grief.
If anyone knows for sure, would like to know. I have a new horse trailer that I would like to use this summer and my F150 4.6L will not cut it.

Just to let you know I was in my local dealer on 3-25-00. The sales man told me that I would not see the PSD if I ordered until NOV. Or if I wanted a gas motor in a super duty it would be after that. Well I ordered one on the 27th of March to get on the list, couple of days later the fleet manager called me and said that the truck will be here the first week of may. The sales man that I talked to first tried selling me the one I drove that day, that I didn't like. He said all that crap and good thing I waited to get what I want.

It is interesting, the dealers do not know, at least the 6 or seven I talked with do not. The latest advised you can order up to June 1st with expected delivery 10-12 weeks. I ordered last week and am hopeful will get confirmation of build this week with delivery mid June. This works for me. I opted for '00 versus '01 because I want to tow this summer not next fall. Most dealers told me that the availability of the '01 would be Sep/Oct range. Ford Corp. is not any help, they just refer you back to the dealership, great loop.

Got called today and told the same thing. My priority had switched from 40 to 01, and the truck is being built this week. Should be in in four weeks according to the dealer.

My dealer talked to his regional guy this week. Regional guy said not to expect the 2001 SuperDuty order guides until the end of May - about a month later than last year. And certainly not in time to place orders by May 15.

As soon as the dealers receive the new order guides, I'll get a copy of Louder's and we'll post them somewhere on Ford-Diesel.com. Unless ford super duty beats me to it! Hang loose.

Smokey I know it doesn't make sense but they still say the O/B opens May 15. This would not be the first time the bank was open and we did not have the guides. It occasionally makes for some interesting first units.
