Are there currently any rebates on these trucks? I'm getting ready to close a purchase by sending a check to a dealer in WA to pay off the balance due so I can get the Certificate of Origin so I can obtain AK title and plates and would like to take advantage of any factory rebates if they exist. I can't expect the dealer to march out any rebates even though it would be the right thing to do. IMHO

Could be. Where can I find the current rebates that Ford is offering? I checked the Ford web site and it lists a $2,500.00 Super Duty rebate good through April however it excludes trucks with the 6.0 liter. No mention of an up fitter credit.

according to the national incentives it is $2500 for super duty diesel ( http://www.fordvehicles.com/incentives/offers/ scroll down, do not enter zip code)and the $1000 upfit reimbursement ( http://www.commtruck.ford.com/ctw/default.asp) may only be for businesses (as long as it is not for personal use or u could wing it and see what the dealer needs for documentation...i am most certainly positive that u should get the $2500
Well, that's interesting Someday. I ran a check of the Ford incentives site and it listed just one 2006 Super Duty incentive for $2,500.00 and when I went to print it it showed (Excl 6.0). I see from the page you posted that it lists the 2006 Super Duty twice. One excludes the 6.0 and the other just shows $2,500.00.
Guess I'll have to ask my dealer about his since I mailed him a check for the balance due today that did not include any incentives. The upfit is for businesses only I do have a business license required by the State of Alaska as I have a rental unit in my home. How to convince them I need an F-550 for this business since they already know I'm retiring but I may take my business license with me when I fly down to WA in February to take delivery and plop it on their desk and say there is my business license. Paid for and legal. I don't think they declare you have to be a logger, builder or roofing contractor to have the business license. Just supply a business license. We'll see thanks for the web site tip.

Typically the upfitter rebate runs something like this.
You spend $1200 on upfitting your truck to your business needs.
Ford Rebates $1000 to you. Your net cost of the extras = $200
You need to send into Ford something to prove you own/run a business. Truck usually has to be titled in the same name. You send in copies of your invoices for the add-ons. They must be add-ons that you can't get from Ford. i.e. a new CD-Player or custom leather seats doesn't count.
A tool bed, Special Racks, Gooseneck Hitch, Your company name painted on the door or other special paint treatments, Aux Fuel tanks used to refuel off road equipments (backhoes), a snow plow are a sample of what qualify.
Since you need to collect the invoices for installing the extras after you pick up the truck, you usually can't have the dealer deduct the rebate at the time of the sale. Usually you have to submitt and wait for the rebate.
I've done this on my 2000 and my 2003 trucks. It's not a big deal to do and Ford is pretty reasonable as to what they consider upfit items.

Making progress. I sent an e-mail to my saleseman asking about these specific rebates. Says he'll see when he gets my check and closes out the deal as PAID as a closing date. Says I'll likely qualify for the $2,500.00 and if I fax him a copy of my business licenses he'll see what he can do. I'm thinking more of getting something for spending $5,500.00 at Manning Equipment to have a Ford bed put on the truck. The $1,000.00 would be a nice kick back if they can make it work to help cover my costs of making the F-550 back into a pick up by having them bolt a bed to it. So potentially I could get $3,500.00 back if all works out, but I'll be happy to get $2,500.00 back. Thanks for the tips.

i see no reason why u should not get $3500...r u paying for the truck before delivery?...i would not pay until i picked it up...once they have all your money it is hard for them to listen to you if u have any concerns, ie incentives, scratches, etc....u have a business so how hard could it be to explain that an f550 would not be used for business...even if u used it to drive around to get coffee and do estimates that's your work truck...lastly, have the dealer run a 'vincent,' that is what ford dealers use to check for current incentives
Yes unfortunately living in Alaska over the years I've gotten used to the bad taste it leaves in my mouth to pay for vehicles, motorcycles etc prior to taking delivery. However in order to obtain the Statement of Origin from Ford it must be paid for in full before the dealer will release the Statement of Origin, the completed purchase order and an ODO statement to give to the Alaska DMV so I can get registration, plates and title for the new vehicle before I fly down to take delivery. Without that I'm forced to buy WA registration and pay a TON of fees and taxes on the new F-550. Or get 3 day transit permits which are $25.00 each with a maximum of 3 allowed before they require you to register the new vehicle in state. Long story short I agree with you that I would prefer to keep the leverage of $55K in my pocket until I'm satisfied the truck is 100% the way I want it and all matters are resolved with regards to options requested, damage from shipping, rebates etc. However I'm hoping the dealer will be stand up and not try to screw me when I take delivery. Thus far it's always worked for me in the past.

Painted Horse gave you the skinny on the commercial upfitter's rebate. It is not a normal factory rebate that the dealer can keep and lower your out-of-pocket cost. Instead it is an actual rebate that you get directly from Ford after you prove to Ford that you spent the mininum amount of money with an upfitter needed to qualify for the rebate. And after you prove that you are in business and the upgrades were necessary for your business.
I suspect the Manning bed is all you need to add in order to qualify for the commercial upfitter's rebate. However, your business license will probably not be enough to satisfy Ford. They want to see proof that you are actually in business, such as an ad in the yellow pages. And as Painted Horse said, you must register the truck in the name of the business - not your name - unless your name is also the name in the yellow pages ad.
For example, my BIL owns Hardison Appliance Service. His new Ford must be registered to Hardison Appliance Service - not to Carroll Hardison - if he wants the commercial upfitter's rebate to pay for the liftgate.
The fleet manager at the Ford store where you bought the new truck can explain all this red tape to you in more detail.

My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it last year. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat.
When it was all said and done I got $2,500.00 for the 2006 PS diesel and $1,000.00 for the upfiter contractor rebates. -$3,500.00 off made a nice surprise close to my deal.

congrats, that must make u feel pretty good about saving $3500 when u were not expecting it ...that probably ended up covering tax, title, and licensing
More then covered it. I went to the DMV today and was out the door with title, registration and new plates for $135.00. No state sales tax in Alaska. No WA state sales tax for an out of state sale. I'll likely use the rebate savings to pay for fuel to drive the rig back up the Alaska Hwy to Skagway, to catch the ferry back to Juneau. Then catch the ferry from Juneau to Bellingham, WA when I move back south this summer. That will more then eat the $3,500.00 I saved on the purchase. But yes it was a very nice surprise to get a price break on the final price of the truck.

Not to argue with you Smokey but this rebate can be given up front to the customer if the upfit is done prior to delivery and the documentation is there to back it up otherwise it must be applied for from Ford after delivery. As for the proof of business requirments here is a clip from the actual Upfitters rebate program details. **** NOTE: Business Card, letterhead, invoices and Business phone listings from Yellow Page Advertisement are NOT acceptable proof of commercial eligibility.****
The vehicle can in fact be titled in an individuals name as long as they are the owner of the business and can prove it through many different documents. The easiest is the Retail Merchant Certificate or various other business licenses.
