235 horse 2001

I am bummed. My truck came in last week, ordered in july, a 2001 sc drw psd 6spd 4x4. A 235 horse motor. I found the build date on the window sticker at the lower left bottom, 9/18/00. Why would ford do such a stupid thing as to upgrade the power 3 weeks into the model year run? Does anyone know of a OEM upgrade I can make to my truck to match the 275 version? Is it a chip mod or an internal one? 38 grand and its already obsolete? Whats a poor boy to do?

It's only obsolete when it can't do what you bought it to do. Speaking for myself, I would not worry about it as long as it still pulled and hauled all I asked it to.

Unfortunately they way in which manufacturers phase things in to production is not always the way we'd like.

I wouldn't be to bummed about it, you can always chip the truck with something from Western Diesel or Diablo Sport -- both of which will take you beyond what either of the 2001 motors are delivering.

Just put a WesternDiesel chip in it and you're there. I put one in mine and dropped 2.25 seconds off my 0-60.
