I ordered a 2000 350 cc swb 4x4 xlt with the 4whl ABS and all terrain tires. Dealer called last week to tell me the truck would arrive 3-22-00. I was then told that the truck that was coming in did not have the ABS or the A/T tire option because of a ordering mix up. My question is is the 4whl ABS that important of an option, if so sould I make the dealer order a new truck?
If I understand the literature and previous posts, the "4-wheel" ABS available on the 250/350 series is not a true 4-channel system. Rather, the ABS unit controls the 2 front wheels individually and the rear wheels as a set. Which, IMHO, is better than just the rear-wheel ABS. I'm sure I'll get corrected if I'm wrong and there are definately going to be other opinions.
That said...
We ordered it on ours because 1) ABS saved our lives (no doubt) in our Honda Accord and 2) its hard enough stopping a truck under control, let alone one w/ the weight of a PSD in it.
If it were me, I'd be asking for the truck I ordered.

I thought Ford had made 4-wheel ABS standard on XLTs and Lariats for 2000. Maybe not. Anyway, I'd check the order number and get the truck you ordered. It is their problem. "Ordering mixup" doesn't mean it is your problem.
Jim
Sounds like the dealer is giving you a truck that was already on the way or that was on a "dealer trade". Stick to your guns and make them deliver YOUR truck. For what you are spending, you'd better get what you want!
4 wheel ABS works great!

The service dept should be able to add the abs to this truck at no cost to you.
I think that you should really check the order number to ensure the truck is really the one you ordered

Jim, as I recall, 4 wheel ABS is standard on Lariat and optional on the XLT.
Thanks for all of the feedback,I was told by the salesman that the 4whl ABS had to come for the factory and could not be installed by the dealer.
So what is the deal, am I getting the run around on this?!
4 Wheel ABS is NOT standard on the y2k Superduty in the XL or XLT trim level. It must be ordered seperately. I doubt the dealer would add it as it would be quite costly.
