Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
I told a friend about Cochise because I saw all these guys raving about the great deal he gave them. He quoted my buddy $700 over invoice. I paid $100 over invoice for mine from a different dealer within 150 miles of where Cochise works.....just wondering if I should have him call him back......maybe he was having a bad day. I was a bit embarassed for recommending him when he told me what the he had quoted him.
Just thought others might want to know,
update....mileage edited from 70 to 150...orginally thought Lonestar was in San Antonio, not Houston.

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Did your friend ask this dealer "70 miles from where Cochise is" for a quote himself? The deal you got, may or may not be available to your friend. I think you really can not comapre, until he gets an actual quote from the other dealer. I see your truck is a 2000. Might the offers, deals, incentives have been different when you got your truck?

rjohnson,
Cochise here. Without knowing who you are refering to I would have no commit! So, before you go bad mouthing the way I do business in an "open forum", I think you should get all your facts straight and e-mail me!

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Rjohnson, remember...sometimes you get what you pay for. No comment on the specifics of your situation, but the are times I wish I had ordered from Cochise or Sunrise. I am paying $200 over invoice from a dealer only one mine from me, however I had no advice other than this site,(including Cochise). Getting information out of my dealer has been like pulling teeth. Cochise has been more helpful in many ways than my own dealer, and he's not makin' dime one from me!

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
I got mine here in SC (South Carolina) for $300 over. I think there are a lot of factors in this case. First, if the market is different where you live versus where I live, that can have an impact. Second, if your friend hasn't got a quote from the people you bought yours from, then you cannot accurately say that Chochise is way off base. Finally, the dealer makes the difference, I may have got a better deal closer to home (I doubt It) but the dealer I deal with is a Blue Oval dealer w/the best diesel mech in the area. May be worth a couple a hundred bucks to have a good relationship with that kind of dealer......

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Cochise,
I'm not badmouthing the WAY you do business. I'm sure you are very professional and know the product you are selling very well. I am just stating the fact that the price that you quoted was beat by over a thousand dollars for the same truck with same options.
That's right, it made me mad too, my friend got an even better deal than me from that 'other' dealership. The same discussions have been on these forums for as long as I've been reading them......"Who has the best prices?....how much did you get your truck for?.....What can I expect to pay for a truck?
I was just surprised to see the price that was quoted to him because that is the highest price over invoice I've seen quoted on an order vehicle yet, and I price shopped for about 6 months before I bought mine....and they were in severe short supply at that time!
I'm sure if a buyer needs help deciding what to get on his truck and how the order process goes and likes to be kept apprised of where the order is, then they may be willing to pay more.....who knows, those trucks may even arrive sooner.
For those of you who don't know, you can take your truck to any dealer for service...not just the one you buy it from.
Like I said above, I'm sure Cochise is a great guy, but his price to my friend was not...that's all I was saying. I thought maybe the dealers weren't dealing as well anymore on the trucks or something....but obviously that wasn't the case.

Gentlemen,
rjohnson,
Cochise Here. Something is wrong here. Some of you know what I'm refering to.
As we all know, cost is cost and the difference from region to region is so small it's not worth talking about.
Now, again, who is your "Friend"! I need the "Facts", if you are not willing to "E-Mail" the infromation to me, you are just confirming what "WE" already know.

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Wow!! That sounds like a smoke screen if I ever saw one!!
If you are trying to say that invoice is "cost", I think we ALL know a little better than that.
I don't understand why I need to email you anything.
I realize that you are doing this site a great service by helping the guys out that have ordering questions.
If you want the "details", I will post them right here for everyone to see. I will post the dealership, the exact price, the salesman's name, all the options on the truck, etc. A little hint for you, the 'good price' dealer is a Blue Oval dealer.
I don't care, it's no skin off my back. The only reason I could see to email this to you is so no one else could see it. Like you stated earlier, this is an "OPEN" forum. I tried to send you some business because you sounded like a great guy and I thought you sounded like the kind of salesman that would give someone a straight-up good price. I'm sorry, I consider a good price to be right at invoice....that's all I've ever paid for any vehicle I bought.
I don't understand what you are trying to say in your above post; however, it sounds like you are insinuating that either my friend or I am lying.
Just say the word and I'll post the details....I was trying to do you a favor by not posting them.
Let me know,
RJ
Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Gentlemen,
Moderators,
rjohnson,
Cochise here. I think we may have a "Problem".
This is not the place for this kind of "Browbeating".
I have asked that Richard Johnson aka rjohnson provide the name(s) of the "Friend" on my private e-mail so I could sort out his concern.
He has not done so. He prefers to continue this "Badgering" in this forum.
Could someone get please get the name(s) of the "Offended Party" aka the "Friend".
At this point I have NO idea of whom this "Friend" is and cannot help Richard Johnson with his concern.

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Gentlemen,
Ladies,
Moderators,
Fellow Americans,
All Countries of the World,
Give me a break
Come on Cochise, your hurtin yourself here.
Who's doing the "browbeating" now?
And who's advertising in their signature with every post they make?
I'm not going to put my friend's name on a public forum....would you?
Here's as many of the details as I have right now....I'll definitely get every one of them on here next week.
The truck got ordered from Truck City Ford in Buda, Tx(Blue Oval Dealer). It was a loaded CC PSD Auto 4x4 XLT (Buddy didn't want leather). The price was close to $1200 LESS than the price quoted by Cochise.....which means he got one heck of a deal....but he promised me that's what the difference was. I know for sure that I can buy a truck at that dealer any day I want to for invoice + $100.....I had no idea they would make a deal like the one they did.
The ONLY thing I could see that happened was maybe Cochise added something up wrong. I was assured this was the same truck/options BEFORE I wrote the original post. He told me he even ordered the AIC, so I bet you can figure out who he is by that Cochise....I'm just not going to plaster his name up in public....you can "browbeat" me all you want for that. You won't even put YOURreal name on here!
I will post the last of the details next week and that is about all I have to say on this matter....I think everyone(WE),(US) has a pretty good idea what's going on here!
I'm glad I brought this out in the open now
I wonder if I could get away with advertising in MY signature

Probably not - unless you are a paid-in-full advertiser on Ford-Diesel.com.
But Cochise's dealership in Houston - as well as Bobby Williams' dealership in SoCal - are paid-in-full advertisers. So they can include a link to their dealership in their sigs. We ask them not to do business in the forums, but it's o.k. if they include a link to their business in their sigs.

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
You know people. I hate to say this but you CANNOT please EVERYBODY everytime. Although I am not sideing with rhohnson or cochise, I do have to admit alot of people love cochise, and unfortunately I know nothing of your friend rjohnson. I am not saying that either of them fibbed but I personally do have friends that love to stttttttretch the truth, and if they get off on it let em. My life is not spent giving a Rat Arse on how they have to keep up with the jones's. If rjohnsons friend got a better deal good for him, if cochise made a mistake opps sorry. it happens and let him try to clarify it. Life is tooooo short to worry about bs. So now the point is this site if for information and not crying about who did what to who and when. Make a phone call, or a private email and get over it.
just my 1/2cent worth.
P.S. this was not meant to flame either of you do not take it offensively please.

Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
bought my trick on the x-plan--just found out about it thru a friend. the x-plan is a BELOW invoice price for a friends of the family who works at Ford Motor Company.
Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
here is the deal,
there are 2 places that will sell 01 and 02's for under invoice, and if you work then a little that will split the hold back.
On each unit the hold back is about $1100.00
so by the time you are done you are way under invoice.
If you want the info e-mail me.
There is no hassel and it does not matter if its cash or financed.
I payed 30,150.00 out the door for mine back in Jan 00.
Now I know that the prices went up but I was just up there and a fully loaded 01 4x4 4 door short box auto and I mean loaded was under 33k out the door.not a bad deal
Re: Is $700 over invoice a good deal on order vehicle?
Grip80, You logic is flawed! There are people who don't know about F-D and do not know about buying at Fleet Prices! And some of these poor people don't know any better and even pay a "Dealer Mark UP"! Now I'm sure most of these people thought they got a good deal! But I think we can all agree that they didn't!
You will always have this debate when there are no set prices for a product. This is the main reason people hate buying a new car!!
And if I new I could wait 6 months and Buy the F350 I want for 50% less, I would! But in reality, trucks and computers are different!!! It's like comparing Apples to Oranges!!

On Edit: Grip80, I paid $500 over for my 98 f150. It was the 1st I learned about Fleet! I am sure glad I did! And I try to pass this knowledge on to friends and family who do not know about it. The main reason I like it is because there is not Haggling!! And yes, I felt and still feel that I got a good deal! But I will never not want to save more
