AIC on 2001 Lariat

Has anyone received or seen a 2001 Lariat close enough to see if the factory auxilary idle control can be plugged in? My dealer will order one on an xlt for there lot and sell it to me a option cost. My job is to see if it will work or not. Any help out there? It's appreciated.

Re: AIC on 2001 Lariat

Thanx, Stephen, but all I can do is guess. Here's my guess.

There is no plug for the APCM on the 2000 PSD Excursions, but lots of folks with 2000 Excursions have wired in the APCM.

There won't be a plugin on the 2001 Lariat because it will have the same wiring harness as the Excursion - but there is no reason the APCM won't work if it's wired in.

So agree with your dealer to order the idle control kit for you. If he's willing to sell it to you for truck invoice price of $178, then that's a real bargain. Look in the forum for PSD Excursions and you'll find instructions on how to wire it in so it will work just like on the cheap trucks.

Re: AIC on 2001 Lariat

I asked the Super Duty brand manager if an XLT kit would plug in. They Emailed me back that the XLT kit would indeed simply plug in as would a unit ordered through parts. They indicated that the reason the AIC was dropped from the Lariat was an extremely low "take" rate.

We have not received a 2001 Lariat to see if this is true or not.

Once again WillSD is right on the money!

Louder finally received his first 2001 Lariat PSD, and sure enough it has the APCM plug under the dash.

So all you folks that want an idle control kit for your 2001 Lariat PSD, the one you buy from WillSD's parts department will work just fine and dandy.
