Getting ready to order 04 F-350 PSD 4x4 King Ranch SRW with all the goodies. Before registering I had been lurking and read the posts about the Auxiliary Idle Control and it sounded like a sensible option for anyone who might need to idle for periods of time exceeding 10 minutes. The Ford 04 marketing info shows it avaliable for the XL and XLT trim levels, but not the Lariat. Can anyone explain? Also has anyone out there actually ordered and used the PTO provision and what have you used it for. Thank you all for the great information in this site.

Thanks Latdo! Great pictures of a beautiful truck. The gages look really good. FMC could have tried a little harder on integrating the looks of the AIC, but I guess its a truck. Did you order the PTO option and if so what do you plan on using it with?

Lots of folks have a PTO on their SuperDuty, but almost all of them are work trucks with heavy-duty hydraulic-powered things such as generators, air compressors, boom/winch, liftgates, dump beds, etc. My buddy has a water-well drilling rig with a hydraulic-powered drilling system.
The typical work truck has an aftermarket PTO and hydraulic pump with hydraulic-fluid storage tanks. That part before you add anything that's hydraulic powered costs about $3,500 from Muncie or Chelsea (Dana Corp). Then some of the other equipment is expensive. Like several thousand dollars for a good heavy-duty hydraulic-powered electric generator or air compressor.
So usually only the very rich will add hydraulic-powered equipment to an off-road pickup.
