Allocation Questions

I'm sure this has been asked before, but here goes:

How does one actually find out what their dealer's allocation is, and how it may affect your order? I've seen a couple posts here from people who have ordered a month or more ago, and can get no info from the dealer. If the dealer can't deliver, why is her or she allowed to accept the order? Is this legal, especially when the deposit is non-refundable?

With me, it's only been two weeks, but already my dealer is pretty silent. He's a pretty big Ford dealer in the area, but I don't know how many trucks he sells.

Thanks for any input.

Re: Allocation Questions

Wexman,
Your story sounds like mine. My dealer "placed" my order about 3 wks ago and I still don't have a VIN number or anything else. He ordered my '96 Powerstroke and got it in about 7 wks. Is your dealer in the Southeast?

Re: Allocation Questions

My dealer is in northern Delaware (near Wilmington and Philadelphia). When I ordered, he said he'll "keep on top of it".

So far, he's on top of nothing! This is actually the 4th vehicle (among 3 manufacturers) I have ordered in the last 7 years, and this dealer is by far the most silent.

Re: Allocation Questions

My dealer is in Alabama and he said today that the order is "still unscheduled clean".
What ever that means.

Re: Allocation Questions

That doesn't sound right, when I ordered mine, Cochise had me a VIN within 48 HS.

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Allocation Questions

AH....but Cochise is the man! If I had done my research right, I would have ordered my truck from him, and flown to Texas to pick it up!

I know what you mean, however; I see many people on this site seem to get a VIN in a week or so.

Re: Allocation Questions

So correct... Cochise is the man. I place my order Jan 6th. VIN within a week. Built 2 weeks ago, and today, he contacted me an let know it is at the ramp and he is just waiting for the truck to bring it to him. He has been on top of it from the start. I am so glad I found him on this web site. I guess there are ford dealers, and there are ford TRUCK dealers (like Cochise). Sorry to hear some people have to deal with the former. For future buyers, call Cochise (281-931-3310). If he can't help you get your dream truck, I am sure he will set you up right direction. Thanks Cochise!!

Re: Allocation Questions

Well, if anyone knows how those of us with "silent" dealers can get around that, and get some real information, let us know.

Thanks.

Re: Allocation Questions

When I ordered mine from Cochise, it took 4 1/2 weeks from the time I ordered (over the phone), to delivery.
Outstanding!

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Allocation Questions

Hoepfully, this will be the last truck I will be buying for a while (of course, that's what I said 4 years ago when I bought my current Brand X big-block). But, next time I do, I will certainly be giving Cochise a call!

Re: Allocation Questions

I ordered my Platinum Editin F250 On January 19th and it was dropped shipped to another dealer, sitting in his lot on February 20th.

Cochise is responsible for this!! WAY TO GO!!!!

I can very comfortably suggest this was an excellant way to do business. There are other dealers on Ford-Diesel.com, but due to the regional restrictions, I used Cochise at Lone Star Ford. He did a lot of foot work and because of him, this deal happened.

Thanks, Cochise.
