Grrrr... I have been told now for two weeks that my build date was 4/23. I called to see if the VIN# had come through and was told that the build date is now 5/14. Hey Cochise et al, is this common? I have never ordered a new vehicle before. This change causes severe problems as many plans were made that involved having the truck in time for hitches to be applied etc. prior to some important trailer transporting dates. I feel I was misled by the dealer who promised 7.5 weeks from order to delivery. Sorry for the venting, but zoowie, if they keep playing games with the build date, my whole summer will be shot. Grrrrrrr.... again! I never did care what the date was.. just don't fib about it. Now the old truck is stripped for sale and the dealer has left me flapping....

Sorry to hear about your luck! I just bought mine from Millenium Ford in Seattle and was kept well informed all along. Truck arrived early, exactly as ordered, and at a great price.Hope things get better for you.

Wagonmaster -- A three week swing in the build date would be an exception and not the rule. It is not uncommon to see the build date pushed back a week or two, especially as we near model year 2001 build out. I know it is an inconvenience, but once a vehicle is scheduled, the dealer has very little control over production dates.
You do have a VIN# right!? Check to see if the VIN# has changed.
Sometimes Ford has to alter the dates for verious reasons. I have a few units that the dates have changed due to changing from one plant to another (Mexico to Kentucky).
I would like to think you are not being jerked around.

Yes... they finally gave me a VIN# yesterday. That is what makes me suspicious. I had called a couple of weeks ago to modify my order to add the AIC after reading what it was good for here. That is when I was told that there was a build date and the order couldn't be modified. I kept asking for the VIN# but all the dealer kept saying was "Build date 4/23." Then when I called to check once more for the VIN#, Shazam! they have a VIN# but a 3 week different date. That is why I have to wonder if the first date was just the dealer putting me off with some Bravo Sierra because he didn't want to bother modifying the order. I won't ever know, but the Bravo Sierra detector is going off.

Ok... its official... I AM being jerked around. I just got a call that my build date has been moved BACK to the original 4/23 build date???! I have figured it out... if you survive the ordering/building/shipping process with your sanity intact, you must be qualified to drive the truck.

If the information in the "VIN#" thread is correct, it is being built in Kentucky as the first number in the VIN is a "1" then followed by a series of four letters, then a combination of numbers and letters. I got more info on the shipping from the dealer and things get weirder. The trains take the truck to Seattle which is 275+ miles past Spokane, even though all of the rail lines from the East pass through here. The truck gets dumped in a big yard in Seattle and trucked back over here. And no, I can't go get the truck in Seattle. That was my first question. I keep hearing faintly in my ears: "There's a signpost up ahead... you have just entered... the Twilight zone."
