argh! the 01 hp increase?

Just curious to know (and please don't flame me.) how does everyone but the dealer know about the horsepower increase on the '01 models with the 6spd. If someone can tell me how to convince the dealer there is a change in October I would greatly appreciate it. He looks at me and says do you believe everything you see on the web. I explained "yes", that is where I received the info. the on the airbox recall you knew nothing about. ha ha. This will be my 3rd psd, and they keep getting better.

Re: argh! the 01 hp increase?

Suggestions:

1. Ask for his copy of the MY2001 Order Guide (or print it out from totalfleet.com).

2. Find someone at the dealership that can read. Don't try to read it yourself, they already obviously disbelieve you.

3. Have them read the pertinent passages to your salesperson... slowly.

Re: argh! the 01 hp increase?

You don't need the entire order guide - just page 1 from the order guide for your particular truck - F-250, F-350, etc.

Don't tell him you got that order guide off the internet. Instead, tell him it is a copy of page one of the order guide published by Ford and it's available to all Ford dealers on their private website which they call the Dealer Connection (with Ford) - fdealer.com - and the revised order guide with the info about the increased power and torque on the 6-speeds has been available since August 14th. If the person you're talking to doesn't know about fdealer.com, then you are talking to a flunky, not a "dealer".

Sorry guys, First timer! While reading this site for the last couple of weeks, I must comment. I didnt think that there were quite as few "dumb" salesman as everyone said..... but, Today I went to 3 Ford dealerships, At the first one the guy asked me sooo many questions because I spotted a 2001 he had on the lot & didnt know. Of course I told him about the molding, PSD sticker, & fog lights. He then asked ME if I had heard about Ford adding power fold in, on the Trailer mirrors !! At the third dealership they flat out told me that the 2001's werent out. The guy thought I lied when I told him that I had just driven one. I said the PSD was a good motor & he said "yup, those NORTHSTAR motors are great". Salesman are dipthongs. My .02 cents. Sorry so long.

Re: argh! the 01 hp increase?

I was at the dealer today and they said thay can't even order an '01 yet! I "educated" the guy as to the fact that several members here are already putting miles on 'em now. Plus, a couple dealers in Houston have em on the lot.
