Auxillary NOT AVAILABLE on my 02 F-350 ???

I was told today I could not order the 96P option on my new F-350 DRW, 4x4. Fleet manager advised me this was only available to fleet accounts with a certain number of vehicles ordered per year I ask him about the chance he could buy it from the parts counter and have it on my truck....he said he would check on it Have any of you guys or gals encountered this? Thanks

If your ordering a Lariat you can't get the Auxillary Idle Control, but if you are ordering the XLT, he is feeding you a line of bull!

He's wrong.

He is confusing "LPO options" with fleet options. Granted, the 96P option is an LPO, but it is NOT fleet only.

96P is not available with Lariat trim - fleet or otherwise. But if your truck is an XL or XLT, then tell the fleet manager to input the 96P option into his order computer and it will take.

If your truck is a Lariat, then you can't get the 96P from the factory. But you can order it from the parts department. List price is about $650, but dealer cost is about $300.

Thanks for the response fellas....Yes my truck is a Lariat so I guess I am hosed. I still think it is pretty foolish I cannot order "what" I want
If any of you know a different route to take I am all ears, other wise I will see if I can buy the part for cost...this should be fun

The Gene we're talking about is Gene Louder. He'll sell you the AIC kit for about as tiny a markup as I've seen from a dealer. Click here to see his deal on the AIC kit.

Re: Auxillary NOT AVAILABLE on my 02 F-350 ???

Is the AIC fairly easy to install? Could joe sixpack install it or am I better off ordering the part and then taking a beating at a dealer for shop fees?

Re: Auxillary NOT AVAILABLE on my 02 F-350 ???

Howdy!

Picked up my '02 F350 XLT about an hour ago, and it came with the AIC that I ordered [also has the Power Passenger Seat]. They left the box in the truck for me, so I have the installation sheet as well. It's all of about 4 bolts to mount it to the dash and one wire to plug into the harness.

Best Regards,
Jay

As Jay explained, it's an easy install. Jay and The Archer, you guys can check out my PHOTOS for an alternative way of mounting the AIC using the factory mount. Not sure if it will work with the 6 speed.

Re: Auxillary NOT AVAILABLE on my 02 F-350 ???

Even if you already have an AIC, Gene's site has two interesting links. One is for a different backet to hold the AIC. I think the company that makes it may advertise here but I am not sure. Search for a link to Gene Louder and you can see the bracket.

The other link is for a special burlwood or woodgrained face plate for the AIC. I think it looks ugly in stock black plastic. When I get my hands on one I probably will try to paint it to match the interior or perhaps just paint the sides and get the woodgrained face plate.

Re: Auxillary NOT AVAILABLE on my 02 F-350 ???

After checking my paperwork I noticed that the AIC was not on it. It did not show up on the listing from Edmunds.com . I called the dealer today and said they would add it on. The spec sheet he faxed me did not make the Lariat a no go. I told him what I had heard and seen but he said that it should fly. Time will tell....
