Thanks to all the great information on this site I am about to be forty odd thousand dollars poorer than when I first started lurking here. This is the best informational/enthusiast site I have run into on any subject. Two weeks ago Thursday I broke down and ordered a King Ranch Dually 4x4 long bed in vanilla. I had ordered a priced Dora and it is listed on my Vehicle Order Confirmation along with the other options, dealer prices, and MSRP. I had been out of town and when I got back I asked for the priced Dora and the VOPC. They faxed me another copy of of the priced Vehicle Order Confirmation with Vin#1FTWW33P54ED02296 hand written in the copy. Should the priced Dora actually say Dora or "dealer order receipt acknowledgement" at the top or is it actually just the same thing as the Vehicle Order Confirmation with the prices? Also, if they are able to give me a complete vin shouln't they also have a VOPC on file so I can find out the build status of the truck? Kind of anxious to find out approximately how long it takes once a Vin# is assigned. Two weeks down, ???? to go. All input would be appreciated.

A DORA is almost exactly the same as the Vehicle Order Confirmation, except the first line says "DEALER ORDER RECEIPT ACKNOWLEDGMENT-FD"
Technically, the Vehicle Order Confirmation shows what the dealer ordered. The DORA shows what Ford agrees to build. You want the copy of the priced DORA.

If by "VOPC" you mean the weekly order status report, then yes, they should have that. Nobody knows what you mean when you ask for "a VOPC". Your order number is the key. Find your order number on the weekly status report, and you'll see the latest status of your order as of Thursday.
It sounds like you're talking to a salesman. Salesmen don't usually have access to the weekly status reports or the DORAs. You need to be talking to the person that handles that - in a big dealership they're usually called the Inventory Manager.

Great choice
I'm with Chief on this - why white - It should have been Chestnut Brown though to be "KEWL"
Did you get the bench or captains in back, how about the moon roof or power rear slider
Well so far I am still the only one with the "Root Beer " Dually

As you can tell, there is a friendly "color war" going on between King Ranch owners.
Personally, I like the black King Ranch..
Oh wait, they don't make a black one?
I'm seriously considering the King Ranch in um HP Green instead of Root Beer . . .
Question: from looking at Chief's web pictures - is the rear bench seat a 60/40 split? Does the bottom fold up? Does it come like the standard Lariat leather with a back fold down? Do the quad chairs slid forward? And, what is behind the seats of the quads - in the standard Lariat there is the jack/tray.
Also - I have only seen one King Ranch in this area (rare I guess) about a year ago. I can't remember the leather seats very well - is it the same type as the Lariat in a different color? or a different grade.

It is a 60/40 split. The drop down cup holder is in the 60 percent side. Both sides of the seat back will fold down. Both sides of the seat will fold up. There is a rack (also 60/40 that folds out over the floor that is meant to be used for things like tool boxes, muddy boots and the like.
You can get the captain's chairs in the rear as well, although that reduces your seating capacity by one.
The leather is full blown cow hide and thick. My 2001 PSD Lariat leather was thin and colored. The front captain's chairs are both electric and slide, up/down and have the bun warmers.
The leather in the Lariat is very different then the KR. As far as I know the tan KR leather is the only color in the KR.
Good choice on the color though - Horse Poop Green. One think I noticed is that with 3 coats of Zaino on it, it's darker then it used to be. Maybe because I got rid of all the rail dust
On edit, the jack and jack handles (in a pouch) are mounted to the floor behind the bench seats.

Yep . . . loved the shine on yours after the Zaino.
The seat leather does look thick . . . also looks pretty stiff. Is it? I would imagine after it got broke in after a few years it would look excellent! How about the care for it as it's real leather . . . anything special? Need saddle soap - oiled - etc etc?
I like that idea about the floor tray on the rear seats. Guess I'll lean more towards the bench seat instead of the capt chairs.

The leather is thick, but not stiff. Very supple. I bought and use the Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner. There are several others that have been recommended that are less expensive, but would have to search for the names.

My friend ordered a KR 4 weeks ago and his sales person said they do not have the Vin yet. How did you get one in two weeks? What options did you order? He ordered a 350 SWB KR CC long bed w/ all options even moonroof.

When I order, any orders we get in to Ford by Thursday afternoon usually get scheduled Thurs. night and we have VIN numbers Friday morning. 4 weeks without a VIN # means that dealership either has no allocation or hasn't submitted the order, did your friend get a DORA?

The dealer actually did not have any allocation left when I ordered, but they apparently went to some sort of regional rep and got him to expedite it somehow. As of Monday I had a build week of March 29 and an estimated delivery to dealer week of April 5. This will put me at about 4 weeks if nothing goes wrong. Not bad for not even having an allocation! The truck I ordered is F-350 King Ranch Long Bed Dually, 6.0 PSD with the auto transmission. I also ordered Limited Slip Differential, Ellectronic SOF, Power Sliding Rear Window, Camper Package, FX4 Package, ADJ Gas & Brake Pedals, Dual Alternators, Reverse Vehicle Aid Sensor, and Auxiliary Idle Control. Have already ordered and received a Reese Titan V receiver ($249.00)a Bedrug ($277.00), C-Betr Mirrors, and Fumoto oil drain valve. On order is an A.R.E. Z series cap with roof rack, remote electri lock and various interior goodies ($1520.00 plus Ford will pay $1,000.00 of this under Commercial Connection). Will order bodyside molding and some sort of hood blanket soon. Who knows what next.
I would like to know if anyone has found a good source for bulk 3M Paint Protection Film at a good price.

I am interested in finding some 3M clear film for the rear fender fronts also.

I ordered the least pretty, but the most practical color for my purposes, white. I live in the Panhandle of Florida and flyfish out west quite a bit (both places get pretty hot) and crawling in and out of the darker colors is too much like an Easy Bake Oven.
You know you are getting older when comfort wins out over aesthetics!
