CA emissions-GVWR?

Why would CA emissions (422) lower the GVWR of a 2001 F350 srw by 200#s. Is there really 200#s of emissions crap on a diesel? I may have a choice when I order as I reside in Nevada.

Re: CA emissions-GVWR?

ok, you leave me no choice but to ask the dealer (expecting BS). Thought at least the CA PSD folks would be curious.....

Re: CA emissions-GVWR?

Don't know the actual answer, but I suspect it's not the weight of the emissions equipment.

More emissions hardware would increase the curb weight of the truck and therefore lower the payload rating, but not the GVWR.

It'll be interesting to learn the answer to this one...
