Called Corporate ford for help with Rebate Lock in...

Well...since i was told my truck would be delivered in 6-8 weeks...and it has already been 5 without even a vin being produced, I called corporate and asked them to lock in my rebates.

I know this is kind of a end around tactic, but they should at least recognize that many customers are getting hosed pretty bad. All i asked was that my rebates are locked regardless of when my truck is delivered. My case has been given to a customer solutions supervisor. Whatever that means.

Im sure my dealer gets ridiculously pissed over this, but you have to look out for #1.

Anyone else tried this yet?

I agree, it may be that your dealer doesn't have a large allotment, or whatever Ford calls it of trucks. So, whatever you can do to get a better price, more power to ya!

Re: Called Corporate ford for help with Rebate Lock in...

I highly doubt they will do you that favor.
In fact, I bet the odds are 100% against.
If they set this presidence, any attorny could argue this case for each and every future Ford order.
Ford won't go there....

Ford will probably tell you that their rebates are good for any in-stock vehicle, and if you want to insure the current program, you better buy one off the lot.

I look at it this way, if the order hinges on an extra thousand dollars to make it affordable, the person really has no business buying something this expensive in the first place.

Order your truck, and don't worry about the incentives down the road.

Re: Called Corporate ford for help with Rebate Lock in...

george, totally agree...and im sure that is what they are going to say. I was just trying to make the point with for that 12-16 weeks of lead time for a vehicle is unacceptable. And some of the lower level people in their customer service chain agreed with me.

I have ordered quite a few trucks...although this is my first ordered superduty and never has it taken any more than about 7 weeks. here i sit 5 weeks in...not even a vin number. Honestly if a dealer cant get trucks withing 2 months...ford should just say hey we cant take orders right now. check back in a month.

I dont hinge on 1k here or 2k there...but the fact remains i am currently eligible for 5000-5500 in rebates...which is nothing to scoff at.

I certainly woudl buy a truck off the lot if anyone within 300 miles had something even close...but most stuff is job 1 that has been stagnant for 6-8 months. If ford had a country wide search engine...im sure i coudl find the truck i want in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the responses.

Re: Called Corporate ford for help with Rebate Lock in...

It's not that 1 or 2k keeps someone from buying the truck, it's why would you pay 2k more than you have to. If I'm told I'm going to pay a set price and when I go to pick up the truck told the rebates have expired because Ford is late and it's going to cost 2k more, I'm not going to be happy. Yes, I might walk away from the deal just on principle (unless I'm desperate for the truck). 5k is certainly nothing to just fluff off IMHO. 5k will buy a lot of gauges, air horns, tires, etc.

I do not understand the ordering process at Ford. Why is it taking over 5 weeks for stunya to get even a vin#? When I took delivery on my truck 5 weeks after I ordered it. Is the difference 4x4 vs. 4x2? Mine is a 4x2 and I am assuming stunya's is a 4x4.

Re: Called Corporate ford for help with Rebate Lock in...

I ordered a chebby because one of the reasons was the dealer wouldn't guarantee me one by the end of the year. If I could have had one in 6-7 weeks I might have done things different. Looking forward to my new chevy though with 10000 off sticker.

I agree with everything you are saying. I would like to see the incentive programs locked in at the time of purchase. But, we all know this isn't ever going to happen.
So, don't worry about something that is out of your control. Order the truck and enjoy it.
Life's too short..

Dark blue..gonna look like one of our Air Force GOV trucks It does look good though, if we didn't use that color for the base trucks I would have been torn between it and the Dark Grey I got.

Re: Called Corporate ford for help with Rebate Lock in...

it all comes down to the fact that if you order from a dealer with ALLOCATION then your truck gets built. If the dealer does not have allocation you wait till the month when he does. You could order from Bobby Williams and get it produced or any REPUTABLE dealer. The honest ones will tell you if they have allocation. You know going in that the rebates are applied at the time of delivery, how hard is it. I would like to pick the winning lottery numbers after the drawing but that is not in the rules.

Just a roll of the dice :P
