My Navy bud ordered his new truck today...but VERY skepical on two items....ordering guy claims that the 531 camper package and 532 trailer packages are standard equipment on '03.25 Lariats and all he needs to place on the order is the trailer hitch...wanting to make sure he gets the rear stabilizer bar in particular, we looked at a few '03's Lariats on the lot and I didn't see any rear stabizer bars....I wanting to make sure Mark gets the truck he really wants.... I am still under the assumption that the 531/532 packages must still be seperately ordered.
We have thru the weekend to make any changes....anyone know for sure?
If I'm wrong with this, someone will correct me. The trailer pkg is standard. The camper pkg. is NOT. The hitch is NOT. If your friend is getting a F250 or F350 SRW, and wants the rear stabilizer, he has to order the camper pkg. If he is getting a DRW, the rear stabilizer is standard. The Lariat pkg. does not provide the camper pkg. automatically as far as I know.
Mike
Go to Sunrise Ford's download center and print out the order guide. It will show you what the Lariat comes with. From what I have seen, the Camper Package and the Receiver hitch are optional accross the board.
Mike, Thanks, what you say DOES make sense, from what the order guy sort of said and what shows up on edmunds option listing...the camper package shows as an option as does the trailer hitch but no specific trailer package. Could the rear stabilizer be part of the FX4 package? I dont read the info on the package as saying it is.Going to call the order guy tomorrow.
Here is the scoop on what has transpired...if you all recall I posted earlier friend is in the Navy and hoping to have the truck before he gets shipped to the Persian Gulf.
Anyway we went to the Ford dealer (A C Collins/Pasadena,TX) where he bought the Mustang....they are changing a stock order for him to hopefully ensure its here before Christmas. They are mentioning the first part of December actually.
Ordered a F350 S/C Lariat 4x4 LWB/SRW....Arizona Biege/Parchment leather, 40/20/40, 6.0L/auto, ESOF, single disk CD, TT mirrors, FX4 package, limited slip 3:73, trailer hitch, heated seats, white letter off road tires. Must admit I am jealous....I head out either saturday or sunday for Joplin,Mo and should be in the new KW by wednesday or thurs....going to have him register as a new member once he decides upon a screen name.
Cochise here. The trailer tow is standard. The camper pkg and receiver hitch would be options.
Too bad you guys did not get with me on the unit.

[*] then the trailer towing pkg is std, but that's only wiring and relays, including a place to plug in a trailer brake controller.
[*] The receiver is not standard on anything, and must be ordered separately.
[*] The factory rear stabalizer bar (sway bar) is available on SRWs only as part of the camper pkg. The sway bar is standard on DRWs. But the camper pkg is not standard on anything and must be ordered as a separate option.
The camper pkg is nice to have because without it you can never haul a slide-in camper and keep your factory warranty. Even if he doesn't plan to haul a slide-in camper, he might change his mind before the warranty is up.

Rick if you Buddy's in the Navy and he is getting sent overseas he might want to wait and order his threw the special program that the military has set up with the auto manufacturer's he can save himself a lot of money and I am not sure but I think he will be exempt from paying taxes, tell him to call Fords 800 number or call the Military Exchange at 18005272345 and ask them if they have the number for the Military overseas car buying program.
I was also wanting the camper package but only for the rear stabalizer bar. I decided not to get it because I heard that the heavy duty front springs make the truck ride like a brick. Is it possible to add that stabalizer bar after the truck comes in??

JDookie, I am driving a 2003 F-350 Supercab 4x4 longbed V-10 with the camper package. It rides very comfortably, in my opinion. Of course, my other ride is a Camaro, but the truck feels "softer" than the Camaro.
You can get a Hellwig aftermarket stabilizer bar, but I'd suggest you order the camper package if its not too late.
Rick, I would strongly recommend your buddy NOT order the factory receiver hitch. It is a weak, weak unit. When I first started looking at Superduties, I crawled under one with the OEM hitch at the dealership and was astounded at how thin the sideplates were. On further investigation, it turns out the hitch is only rated for 10k lbs of trailer with a weight-distributing hitch; without use of a WD hitch, its capacity is about half that.
If you want to tow more than 5000 lb with your Superduty, do the smart thing and get a real hitch from an aftermarket company.

[/ QUOTE ] You heard wrong. On 99 percent of CrewCab PSDs, there is no difference in the front or rear springs with or without the camper pkg. The fine print in the order guide states that the heavier front springs are "not included if maximum springs have been computer selected as standard equipment". And on a CrewCab PSD, they have. [/ QUOTE ] Sure. You can either buy the parts from your Ford dealer, or buy a Helwig sway bar from lots of 4x4 and offroad and other aftermarket parts dealers.

DPtoo, I'm interested to know what actual problems you have encountered with he factory hitch. My truck is being traded tonight and has 303,000km, with at least 40% of them towing. I've never used torsion bars since the airbags were added and that includes 40' park model trailers. My hitch is in perfect shape. Mine is one of the old 10K hitches, not the new 12K. Just curious?? "weak weak unit" suggests to me that there must be some major concerns with this hitch
I went to my dealer in Nashville this afternoon to spec. out my truck and asked about, among other things, the rear stabilizer bar with the camper package. There were no stock SRW units equipped with the camper package, so I looked under several DRW trucks since the rear stabilizer bar is standard, but could not, with certainty, tell where it was. Where would it be?
