I ordered an F350 with the Tow Boss pkg in Oct of 2004. I knew the truck would be late availability and was informed the first week of Jan 2005 that the truck was to be built on the 6th (it showed "bucked" in the computer)and expected delivery to the dealer on the 26th of January (that week). I STILL have not seen my truck!
My dealer tells me someone goofed at the factory and when they checked on it the first of Feb they found out it had NOT been built. They assured me it would be built immediately and apologized for the delay. Then they have told me it is built but they don't know where it is.
I gave them 72 hrs to find it last Thursday after I was told they got "special permission" from Ford to use a new tracking system to find out where the truck is. Yesterday they said they couldn't get logged into the system and would have to wait until this morning. STILL no call from the dealer. I am fed up!
I went looking this morning and found two trucks with more than I want at a nearby dealer. I'm thinking about going back there tomorrow and buying one of them. I have not put anything down on the truck that was ordered. I don't feel that my local dealer has supported me through this transaction and he can figure out what to do with the truck when it comes in!
I say go buy a truck from the lot, you gave your dealer enough of a chance. That said, there's nothing like the feeling of getting a truck that was built special for you, it's sweet.
Whats the dealer thinking I got a guy who order a truck but I cant tell him when it will be here or even if its been ordered for sure.Hmmmmmmmmmm I think dealer needs a wake-up call. Don't tell him anything go buy the othet truck and when they finally call to tell you your trucks here tell them ok I'll be right there. Then when you don't show and they call again tell them I'm sorry I can't find my car keys I'll call you when I find them. Get where I'm going with this
I would string them along as far as I could and see how they like it.
Hope you enjoy that new truck

Do the in-stock trucks you found have the TowBoss pkg? If not, then they are not comparable trucks. I'd wait for "my" truck.
I would go stand on the dealer's desk. Not a salesman. Not a manager. The Dealer. Ask him to contact the Ford regional manager and get him involved with locating your truck.
Also find someone that has access to the Ford vehicle ordering system (CONCEPS or something like that) and ask them to print out the current status screen for your order. Then you will know everything the dealer knows about the status of your order.
I don't remember the details, and I'm not a dealerperson so I don't have access to the Ford computer systems, but I seem to recall that Ford was having a problem with producing the TowBoss pkg, and that was delaying orders being built. If that's true, you can't blame anything on your dealerperson. Except maybe not adequately communicating with you to tell you want is really going on with your order.

it might even be a blessing in disguise because ts trannies before mid january may potentially have problems, the incentives are much better, and for your grief you could probably milk them for some extras.
Well i did it! I went to the other dealer and bought an F350 CC Kings Ranch FX4 DRW WITH the Tow Boss pkg!
Wow, this is sure alot different than my '02 F250! I am very impressed.
I called my salesman at the dealer I made the order thru and left him a message that I had found a truck and wouldn't be taking the one he had ordered for me. I told him he could call me if he had any questions. Guess what No Call!!!
I'm seriously considering writing a letter to Ford Corporate and detail my experiences, but, don't know if it would do any good. Thier response to an e-mail my wife sent to customer relations about this issue just resulted in "blah, blah, blah" See your sales Mgr at your dealer, etc. It's almost like they are doing you a favor by "allowing" you to purchase thier product. Typical these days. All this could have been avoided if the original dealer had been willing to keep me informed. Instead, the only time I got any reponse was when I called them and it was typically "We'll call you when the truck comes in" nothing more.
Oh well, I'm relocating to Texas in July so I won't have to deal with the attitude in the "Peoples Republik of Cali-Fornia" much longer.
Thanks for letting me vent

Save the $0.37. Ford could care less.
You still bought a Ford truck, right?
So Ford still has your money, right?

The dealership is the only one that might care.FOMOCO won't care because they sold a truck no matter what.
When I get my new truck thats on order I'm going to drive it to my local dealer that wouldn't give me a loner when they had mine in for warranty work.I just want the owner to know that he lost a sale because of what his manger did.
