Changes to December forward trucks?

After downloading the 12/1 order guide from Bobby, I noticed that there are changes after Job 1 ran for December and later trucks. Page 2 on bottom right hand side. The thing that caught my eye is there are no longer dual sunvisors in the lariat. Has anyone seen the new ones? Can I retrofit the old ones? Was this a cost cutting thing? The other thing listed was the "Integrated leather head restraint" is now an "Integrated VINYL head restraint". Which part is this? Will my Lariat on order now get some vinyl piece? More cost cutting?

Where there more changes made in the previous months that I havent seen since I didnt download the guide every month?

I didnt see any mention of the new front window that a post mentions. I can assume my 12/30 build date truck will have these changes?

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

I am almost ready to cancel due to no build date and renting a car with my new car money. However I would like to know more about this. I ordered based on a 2003 test drive. If they made all the changes you talk about here. I am FOR SURE going to cancel.

One of the things I liked was the dual visors.

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

Thats why I asked if they could be retrofitted. I have wanted them for years and was happy they would be in the new truck when it came.

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

I think that's the point: when he ordered his truck his expectation is that it would come with the dual visors... but the rumored changes for trucks built this late is that they will come *without* the dual visors. (More "decontenting"....) So that's why he's upset.

We knew we wouldn't get the dual visors, or the good lighted mirrors, etc. (like our 2000 X had) but I can always just buy those later if we miss them, since they're still Excursion parts.

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

I have the dual sunvisors on mine as well as the windshield decal.

Also I noticed the crew cab rear seat they made cheaper my friend just got.. Every year ford cuts corners next thing they will sell you a truck without and Engine or warranty

Bundo - are they two seperate assemblies or one unit - I'm going to look into adding them on my XLT.

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

Yep, looks like cost cutting items to me. So far it's just nickel and dime stuff, most you can upgrade yourself if you really wanted to, but it still kinda sucks. If Ford starts cutting corners on the meat and potatoes of the truck like power train, frame and suspension stuff, I would have a major problem with that. But courtesy reflector instead of lights, single sunvisor instead of dual, not a big deal to me. Vinyl instead of leather, not to crazy about that, but I'm not going to run out and cancel my order.

I read somewhere the Ford was looking to save a few hundred dollars on the production of the F-150. Looks like they are trying to do the same on Super Duties too.

That's why they put little statements like "specification can change without prior notice" in the fine print.

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

The ones on the lot at my dealer have them. My question is when does that change take place? Will it be for trucks ordered from Decemeber on, or trucks made from December on?

As far as them cheapening up the Super Duty, this really disappoints me. It seems some other models are getting nicer every year, and the Super Dutys dont appear to be doing the same.

Re: Changes to December forward trucks?

I may be wrong abou tthe head rests, but weren't they already vinyl. I thought we just got "leather seating surfaces" and figured the rest was vinyl.

I think they're 2 seperate units, but they may work off one mount (I guess I could throw on some pants and go look). I haven't been in the truck that much (maybe 150 miles for me), as I'm usually in the 2000 with the utility box and my wife has essentially commandeered the new one. Most of the time since I've had it we've been battling big storms here and my construction company is on 24 hour emergency call, so no time for play yet. About all the time I have for fun is on here and farting in line at Home Depot.
