They wouldn't release something that 'modern'...
However the suicide doors would be nice, although over time I feel that joint & connection would be a hard item to get watertight and windproof.

Well, that pretty much scares the !@#$% outta me! I like change, but that may be a little too space-age for me. My four year old son has a medium sized die-cast Tonka concept I bought him last year, and there are a lot of striking resemblances. From the tight round wheel wells with large flared lips, to the three vents in the front quarter panel, to the grille, to the general shape and “boat-tail” of the box. Yes, I’m comparing to a toy model, but it closely matches all those Tonka concept photos we saw a few years ago. Yes, Ford’s concepts seem to share some of the same attributes and the Super Chief could be sharing some with the Tonka, but the 2005-2006 grille, headlights, and bumpers really come close to the Tonka already – most likely a gentle change could get us there in 2007. Yes, the Super Chief is really rounded and a little drastic for the next change, but who knows.
Many have viewed the current black-masked spy shots as gospel when it comes to the sheetmetal by saying they don’t see much change in the spy shots from the current Super Duty. Does anyone honestly think that Ford would drive around sporting the new sheetmetal prior to its release (or close to it) if it is indeed that drastic – especially if it would show through the lousy and skimpy black bikinis the test mules sport? I doubt it. Look at the 150’s before they hit as a 2004. Not many spy shots back then as I recall. Look at the new Everest supposedly coming. Almost all the spy shots so far have a good portion covered – almost all of it. Let’s face it, without all these stupid incentives driving down the resale of our used trucks, sales would be in the toilet. The information on the radio, television, internet, as well as on the street, is going to be extremely tight-lipped and full of speculation and “my brother’s, sister’s, uncle’s brother’s buddy’s dog’s groomer’s nephew said…” stuff right until the end. How else can the manufacturer keep all the immediate new buyers from not holding out for the “New Super-Duty”? But, in any event, we could be turning down the avenue Ford has been steering is down with the Tonka and Super Chief concepts. Uh oh! I just hope they are not that drastic and rounded. I think a Tonka with many attributes of the new F-150 are in order. But, then again, who am I? Just a speculator like the rest. Hmmmm... maybe I'd better run out and get my 2006 before the Super Chief hits the streets.

I guess some members could say that the current superduty style has become rather moldy and long in the tooth save for the chrome package's saving graces in grill design.
When the supeduty first came out I recall thinking after seeing one close up, "What a piece of junk!." The fit and finish were horrible, and it generally looked like a dinosaur.
When put in a context of what it is supposed to do, haul loads, who cares what it looks like?
So when you say that this concept is one ugly __ your impression pretty much matches my current opinion on the looks of the superduty right now.
I appreciate the little extra effort in design that the Tonka and now the Superchief shows and I'm sure that these concepts won't be wasted on us neanderthals. I'm not a big fan of art deco, but who cares what it looks like as long as it gets the job done.
Who needs 23 inch wheels when it hard to get 20" tires now? Who needs a flip forward hood?
I pretty much agree with you, but, I still think I personally would enjoy driving/abusing/working, a truck that I like how it works, as well as how it looks. But hey, to each his own, right?

Saw that "thing???" on TV the other day, almost threw up looking at it. I've got to say, that any vehicle that makes most people want to yack from looking at it, shouldn't be on the road. This fits most the Chryslers, but that thing is.........hideous. Reminds me of when lowriders were getting blown up all the time, you might see that return if that thing hits the streets. Makes me want to run right out and buy an '06 quickly before they really ruin this truck. Shows you that FORD is no longer targeting the working man, looks like they're targeting pimps.

so you have seen it then...i dont know your exact position at ford but my feeling is that if you have seen it then it will be revealed to the public soon
I work on the line.
The picture is a concept only truck, doesn't look like the MY 08 that we will be building.
Like everyone else has said, hopefully Ford will unveil the new truck at the chicago auto show.
