I will be getting my new diesel on May 10th. I am new to the diesel world. Other than looking the truck over for any damage, what other things should I do to ensure a happy and hassle free purchase?[img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]
Should I go with an extended warranty, etc? I plan to keep this truck for a LONG time.
Any other advice is appreciated !!! Thanks in advance.

You may also wish to check out NOVAPS - see below - at one of our meetings. You can get some first hand knowledge and advice along with checking out the different mods and what have you. Also, I plan to have the front windows tinted within the first few weeks. In the past I bought "limo tint" from auto zone and so far has held up rather well without fading, etc. Does anyone recommend a certain brand of window tint that rates fairly high without any fading, tearing, etc? Yeah, I know what its like to wait, got my truck yesterday, had the Line X bedliner sprayed in it and I took it today and had the front two windows tinted to match the back privacy glass, it looks great, I also put two coats of Zaino wax on it, I do recommend the wax, I like it! The truck is great, I am all smiles [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I purchased my front privacy tint from a guy on ebay when I first got my truck He's still selling the stuff do search f-250 parts etc and you will come accross him. Can't remember his name but he had precut stuff for most every other car or truck as well. The stuff matched perfect and its held up great thus far no issues, In fact the place I had install was really impressed with quaitly of product and perfect fit. I think it was only 25 or something for the front windows than another 40 for install and I was good to go.
If you really can't find on ebay PM and I will spend some time looking it up and just might come accross it. But would take some time.

Check to make sure your airbox seals in the back, all of your fluids are full, no leaks down below, glow plugs for leaks(they are along the heads just above the exhaust manifold).

Tint-I purhcased mine from a tint shop, they tinted the front to match the back, $65 and guaranteed forever, that seemed fair to me.
Extended warranty-This really is just your preference, but I will tell you what my choice was. I declined, the engine has a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty anyway and I bought a manual tranny, so that isn't expensive should I encounter problems. Ford was wanting thousands for an extended warranty which I thought was too high since the engine is already warranteed. If I could of got one for under $1,000 instead of over $2,500, I might of taken it.
Zaino-I also wanted to do Zaino after I had the truck for about a month, so I called dealer and told them NOT to put a drop of wax on my truck when they detail. If you do Zaino you will not want any wax on your truck. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info, I will probally end up shopping around for window tint/with a guarantee deal.
I will probally decline the warranty also. (I'm crossing my fingers for a trouble free ride)
I have seen alot of good talk about Zaino, I personally have never used it but will give it a shot.
Some upgrades I will do in the first week of taking delivery will be tinting, line-x, and possibly a cow pusher (brush gaurd).
