I ordered a new 6.0L diesel on Friday and checked this morning to see if the order had gone in already and the manager stated that "it was not the order window for trucks yet"???
Is this true? Is there a certian window for ordering trucks? He said that they can order cars at any time, but trucks only at certain times...???

The dealer can put the order into the computer any time, and Ford will process the order and send the dealer a DORA. But the "factory" for our PSDs has a weekly cycle that begins on Thursday. Ford "pulls" orders out of the order pile on Thursday, then notifies the dealers on Friday as to which orders were pulled for production. Then they do it all over again the next week - on Thursday.
So if you ordered on Friday, the dealer won't know until the next Friday whether your order was pulled for production.

- What is a DORA?
- Is there a chance that your vehicle does not get pulled, and if so, why would that be?
- Any way to increase chances of vehicle getting pulled?
Thanks,

Excellent chance. When demand is greater than supply - IOW when Ford has more orders than it can schedule for production in the next week - then they go by an allocation system. Dealers are given allocations for new orders, based on how many of that type vehicle they have ordered in the past. If a dealer orders 10 PSDs this week, but has allocation for only 5, then 5 of his orders gets pulled for production and the other 5 sit there waiting for the next cycle - or maybe for a cycle several weeks down the road.

Sure.
Order from a dealer that has unused allocation for the vehicle you want.
Plus don't order anything that is in short supply this week. "Commodity shortages" happen all the time, and the dealers are informed as to what those shortages are. For example, if they run out of 4x4 SRW chassis this week, then they won't schedule any trucks that have that component until they receive a fresh stock of that component. Sometimes this delay is only for a few days, but sometimes it's for several weeks.
So the short answer to your question is to always order from a pro that keeps up with what is going on at the assembly plant for your vehicle, and that has plenty of allocation to prevent delays to your order. Ford provides plenty of info to the dealers, but it requires time to read and understand all the stuff Ford provides. That's why you will see so many folks suggesting that you order from Bobby or Cochise. They are both pros that keep up with the info Ford provides, and they keep their customers informed as to exactly what's going on. That's not true of very many Ford salesmen.

Are you getting a second truck because you like the first one so much (when it's running right)? Or did the mess with yours after the reflash get so bad that they're letting you get a new truck?

I am not even driving my truck anymore due to all of the issues I have been having. They are going to buy it back from me, and I am trying to order a new one, but want to get the strait story from someone that knows!
Thanks much for the info. Now I have something to go back to the dealer with, in respect to asking the right questions...!
Thanks again!

No, they know I ordered an '03. I think they are just putting their other orders before mine, but don't know how to really know this...?
