I've got a 2001 PSD, and with the low financing, thought I'd look into getting a 2002 with a few more bells and whistles.
Here's my problem... I went back to the dealer I bought my 2001 at, and discussed ordering a 2002 via X-Plan. When I asked them what I could get for my truck as a trade-in, they said they'd have to wait to see what the X-Plan pricing came in at before they'd tell me what they'd offer for the trade-in. It sounds like a bunch of smoke and mirrors to me, since I'm not going to haggle the new truck price at all.
So, I'm thinking about finding another dealer in the area (SE PA) that may just cut to the chase and let me know what they'd offer for my truck. Anyone have any good recommendations?
Thanks!
-Howard

Where'd you go for the truck you have now? Personally I'd look at Yocum in Lansdale although they usually don't have much of a Super Duty, let alone PSD selection, or at Bergeys Ford down in Ambler (or was it Abington)?
...Penn State! I guess that PSU fans are everywhere
I bought the truck at Kennedy (formerly Tauder) Ford in Phoenixville. I had the last one ordered, and plan on doing the same this time around - so if the dealer doesn't have it on the lot, then it's not a deal-buster.
I find out tomorrow what they will offer for mine, but with the vibe I got today, I doubt they'll give me a reasonable offer.
I also need to check on the Ford financing deal - they told me that I could order a truck, have it arrive after 10/31, and still qualify for the low financing. That's not the way I read it, thought I had to take stock from dealer inventory before the end of the month.
They actually were very good when I bought the last truck a year ago, but the new salesman and the manager seem a little bit sketchy.

Actually I went to Penn State and graduated in May '99. The Air Force has me stationed out here and I like Montana, but it's not home. Let us know how things turn out, since if I ever move back to PA I'll need a good dealer to go to.
Another PSU alumni 94 here. I bought my 02 from Fred Beans West Chester Ford. They got it for me in 5 weeks. The salesman, Bill Williams, was great to deal with. Their dealership already has a lot of 2002s in stock. I'm pretty sure that they are the volume leader in the Tri-State area, so they have plenty of trucks, and if you order they can get them quick. Good luck!
Ive have never done a deal with Kennedy but have heard they were fair. Also I have heard Yocum wont deal at all?? I work part time for the ambulance in Lansdale & the Chief couldnt come close to Kennedys deal on his 250SD.

I bought my truck from Yocum Ford in lansdale and Marlin Hunsberger is the salesmen I bought it from. I don't know all the lagistics of your complaints but he really hooked me up with a great deal. My truck stickerd for $34,600 back in 96' and he orderd it and sold it to me for $29,900. I didn't even qualify for any a,x,orz plan at that time. The reason for them not having much of a selection isn't because they don't want to keep any inventory, but because the availability of property wasn't there at first. Recently I talked to Marlin at my church and he said they had bought some adjoining properties and are awaiting for some approvals for expansion.
I would have to say that for service after the sale is great, compared to the big boy in the area, (Faulkner). I just talked to an old friend who is waiting for a slot to put his truck in the shop at faulkner and he is totaly fed up with it. Unfortunatly that's where he bought it and purchased his extended warranty.
My suggestion is to go to Faulkner Ford and test drive the set-up you like, then go to Yocum for the order! Besides, you said you are able to use the x-plan, so the price is a percentage anyways.
I plan on ordering my new one in a few weeks from Yocum! Good Luck!
Sledhead, I'm located on Morwood rd. on the other side of Allentown rd. in the little town of Morwood. Small world isn't it? I looked at the pictures of your truck and I don't remember ever seeing it around.
Good Luck with selling it!
