dealer is trying to screw me on price Level

I ordered a truck on 8-31 made an add on change for the $30.00 engine block heater..

I ordered the truck on the price level 515 and got the DORA with a price level of 515 with the vin...

Now the dealer got the new invoice with a new price level of 520 The base truck went up, sunroof and the power slider rear window..

What can I do?

Re: dealer is trying to screw me on price ;evel

I don't know what the "level" you mentioned means, but isn't placing an order at a agreed upon price (in writing?) like a contract to buy this for that amount of money? IMO the price is what you negotiated it to be when you ordered. It seems this was verified by you referring to VIN. I would think that changing the deal after it has been made would be no deal.

I have heard of schemes where vehicles where purchased and loan terms made and put to paper, only to get a call maybe 2 weeks later saying "they didn't approve the loan, you're going to have to come up with more money, or payment is going up" This happened to my oldest daughter, and a co-worker. In her case they actually lowered her selling price to get deal thru. Now I found out after this all happened. I told her she had a legal contract from dealer binding both sides to the terms, NOT just her! The dealer didn't really had loan approval the first time thru or finance company couldn't have done that. If not for fact the dealer had to lower selling price to her the second time to get approval I wouldn't have believed it!

Maybe you should tell dealer if price isn't as negotiated, you aren't interested in truck, and will take your business some place else.

Hang onto the DORA that shows the price level of 515. That's your price. The dealer has "price protection" from Ford for "sold" orders, so even though the final invoice will show price level 520, your actual price will be 515. This is all handled by the dealership bookkeeper with accounting magic.

The change to add something after the price increase took effect might change the price protection. But I don't think so.

This is why you need to have a really good friend you trust as your dealerperson. To tell you the truth about this stuff. That's why I recommend everyone use either Bobby Williams or Cochise Willis or Gene Louder as their dealerperson.

Almost Smokey..
You need to have your NAME on your DORA for it to be a binding contract.

So, my DORA is also a 515 price level. It has my name on the bottom beside "Customer", but I did not sign the DORA. It also has a disclaimer at the top that says "Prices are subject to change without notice". Am I going to be hit with a price increase, or do I have a legitimate argument to stick to the original 515 price level?

When my truck came in, the price increased three times since the initial order. I paid the current invoice, and then Ford sent me a check for almost $1,800.00 a month later to honor my price protection..
That's how the deal worked for me.
