I just ordered a loaded (every option except 2nd row captain's chairs) 2004 Eddie Baur 6.0 PSD X and will be paying about $1000 under invoice (rebates not included). I told my dealer I felt he should only make about $500 on a vehicle that was simply going to be ordered and then paid for in cash. To keep the numbers clean I am not trading anything in and have my own financing. Basically I had the roughly $1500 in dealer holdback that they normally do not like to talk about pulled out of the equation and then had the dealer add in a $500 profit. My truck's MSRP is $52,915 (includes FAF and fuel charge), invoice is $46,375 (includes FAF and fuel charge), my purchase price is $45,371 (includes FAF and fuel Charge). I will also get the current $1500 rebate if the truck is delivered by 12/1/03 and any other rebate that is given if the truck is after 12/1/03.
Basically with the present rebates I am sitting about $2500 below invoice.
I am in Massachusetts and had two dealers willing to do these numbers with me. I ordered from the more established dealer of the two. There seems to be more benefits to the dealer behind the scenes for moving these beasts other than their standard profit. I am sure Ford looks upon them very favorably for selling X's as I read somewhere that Ford clears about $18,000 on each X sold. Which is why I still think I am paying too much. DFW62,that is a very good deal. That is better than X-plan. I am looking to get an X. Would you be willing to give the name of the dealer in Mass and the Salesperson? I will order one from them and pick it up on my way from Fl to NH. Thanks
I got mine for invoice, then subtract any rebates. MSRP was 46765, invoice was 41250, and then there is 1000 rebate to take off as well so I am now at 40250. And I just walked in off the street and didn't know anyone.
Would you be willing to give the name of the dealer in Mass and the Salesperson?

roadhog350,
I'd rather not give out the name and location as I do not have my truck yet and do not want my salesman to think I am passing word that he is easy.
In all honesty it was not difficult to get the dealers to pull the hold back out of the mix. I simply held my ground and stated I wanted to pay $500 over invoice with the hold back removed. If they did not want to talk about removing hold back I said thanks and got up to walk out. Three out of the four dealers told me not to leave and did the I have to see my sales manager routine. All three came back and said we normally don't do this but OK. In the end I was only considering two of the four dealers based on the general attitude they conveyed.
The dealers really seemed to want to make the sale. I think the sale of a $50K plus vehicle really helps their overall numbers and helps them to be in better standing with Ford. If they sense that you are serious about buying but will only pay a certain amount tney should jump at the sale.
Two important items were that I had no trade and planned to pay in cash. This makes the numbers very straight forward.

If your looking for a dealer who will probably sell you one at X plan price without a verification number try Regency Ford in Metairie, Louisiana or for $200.00 or so over Invoice call Lamarque Ford in Kenner, Louisiana or Don Bohn Ford in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Thanks 5th Wheeler. I have an X-plan pin and have no problem buying or ordering one at X-plan price. However, the price that DFW62 is getting is much better than X-plan. I have not been able to find anyone in the Miami area that will order one for that price. I'll give it a couple of more days of trying then I will order with X-plan. Thanks again for the help.

$100.00 over invoice plus $1500.00 in rebates.
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah, this is what our deal worked out to be. just ordered it yesterday
msrp was $46510
invoice was $41037
got the truck for invoice plus $100, so we got it for $41137
so far the rebate is $1000
have another $500 rebate for being a member of another association.
total of $2000 in rebates
$41137-$1500
so our purchase price for the truck came too $39637.
i think it's not a bad price for a brand new 2004 f350 lariat, 6.0L fx4 cc lb srw 4x4, w/ everything except the sunroof, aic, pto, and dual alts.
don't know if everybody else is adding the taxes amount in but our taxes are 3% so
$39637 + 3%taxes = $40826
this is an updated price, since ford changed their rebate from $1500 to $1000. hopefully though when our truck get's in, 2nd part of november to maybe first part of december, they'll have the $1500 again if not more.

roadhog350 (Gary),
Talked to my salesman today and he said he'd like to talk to you. He said if you could pick up the truck from his dealership he could probably work a deal. He did not want his name and number posted on the internet.
How can I get in touch with you outside of this board (phone or email)? I can respond either Friday or next Tuesday (will be away Saturday - Monday).
Dave

i believe it was bob dunn ford of greensboro or winstem-salem. we called triple A and got them work out the deal for us. we never actually have been to the dealership yet or talked to a dealer.
on my rebate price, i had a $1500 rebate, but i didn't know that ford had changed their page, so now's it an $1000 for now. figuring though the truck want be in until middle of november to first of december, maybe it'll be back up to a $1500.
