does camper pkg "level" F350

All:

I have read that a F350 rear end rides higher since Ford is using the 4" blocks and Heavier springs than the F250. If I order the camper package, will that "level" the truck? Any advantages or disadvantages of ordering the camper package for my purpose?

I have already ordred the truck (way back on 8/30/00), but it is still "clean" and "unscheduled" so I think I can add the camper package if it is worth it.

F350; Lariat; Crew Cab; 4x4; PSD; Offroad Pkg; Auto; 3.73 Limited Slip; SRW; Short Bed; TTT Mirrors; Reverse Vehicle Aid Sensor; Trailer Hitch; Oxford White :-)

It will have Line-X sprayed in bed and a cap put on immediately upon arrival.

It will be used as a daily driver for my wife, daughter (5 months) and 2 BIG DOGS. It will be going to Tahoe (from SF) almost every weekend (175 crowded highway miles) either to go camping in the summer (4x4 trails) or skiing in the winter.

So question is camper pakage worth it for my purposes? Anything else I left off my order that I should add before it's too late?

Thanks for all the input......everyone who contributes to this site helps immensely.....

Rich

1.no 2.yes. the trucks with camper pkgs looked raked the same as without. sway bar helps if you plan to haul high CG loads, ie, loaded lumber rack, camper etc. I dont know about the ride, but I'd get the Camp.Pkg for $200. IMHO

Re: does camper pkg "level" F350

for max spring rates you should be looking at snowplow (5200#) or max GAWR (6000#) pkgs. rf

Re: does camper pkg "level" F350

The camper package on both the F250/350 consists of one extra leaf on each rear leaf and a rear stablizer bar. The auxiliary leaves only come into play when your bed is loaded and pushes down on the spring. The bar attaches to the rear axle and the bed. It keeps the bed from "moving" with a high center of gravity load, ie a slide-in camper or other heavy load. It will have no effect on the sitting or level of your truck unless it is loaded. It does help to prevent rear end sag. Extreme sag can be curred by Air Lift bags, Firestone, or Helwigs. Don't use air shocks with high loads unless you want to break shock bolts. With 25 lbs. of air in these bags you can literally carry another Super Duty in your bed and it will ride level.
