Does this sound right?

I went in to place an order for an 05 last week and successfully did so. Well I didnt drive up there and did not have my current insurance card on me at the time, so I told the dealership I would bring it up today so they could copy it for their records. Well to make a long story short I asked them when I could expect to see the truck. I was told that ford would pull the order in probably 3-4 weeks, then it was another 6-8 weeks before I will see the truck after ford takes the order. Does that sound correct? I was under the impression that 5-7 weeks from the day I stepped in their office I could expect a truck........but since I ordered before assembly started I was thinking that 5-7 from start of assembly sounded a little closer. Thanks in advance.

Pro,

Cochise here. Does not sound good to me.
Once porduction starts, if the dealer has the allocation, the unit should be there in 5/7 weeks if there are no delays. Did you order an option that is on hold till hell freezes over?

One is the integrated trailer brake controller. Perhaps not delayed quite that long, but maybe several weeks.

Re: Does this sound right?

As far as I know I did not order anything out of the ordinary. What I am not understanding is that the dealer says that it will take 3-4 more weeks before ford picks up the order. They said that they will not know when the build date is until ford picks up the order. I am lost on that part......what does he mean ford has to pick up the order. It was sounding like it goes to fords computer and sits there until they actually confirm the order.

The only papers I have right now were the handwritten writeup with all of the options that I wanted on it. That paper was taken to the computer then and all the options ect. were entered into the computer along with what truck I was wanting. I then had a printout of a vehicle order confirmation dated 7/10/04. order number was 0000. Priority: 10. Orter type: A Price level: 515. Job #1 build. Order code 617A. After that it just lists the prices at dealer invoice and retail with all of the options I chose.

Re: Does this sound right?

I got my priced DORA faxed to me today without even needing to call the dealer. It shows the submitted date as the 14th and has a legitimate order number on it. I think you need to go talk to your dealer and tell him that either you want a commitment with a priced DORA with a "retail" order number and a priority near 10 or you want your deposit back.

I would never do business with a dealer that operates like this.

Re: Does this sound right?

I put in my order on a saturday at around 4 o'clock so I don't really know if that makes a difference or not but, after looking at my order sheet I did get C09 priced DORA, as well as priority 10. I am gonna try an email to them as the email hits a guy in a different department and after talking to him on the phone a while back he seemed like a very wise guy to talk to at this dealership. Alot of this may be due to me being paranoid being its the first time I have ever ordered anything of this caliber. Thanks for the replies.

Hey thats my Ford Dealer Really that is where I buy my trucks from, what a small world. As a matter of fact I live a few miles from there.

Their body shop is at the top of my list too... very good people to work with.

Re: Does this sound right?

After what I have gone through with dealers lately there is only one I will ever trust and that is Cochise. I will make a road trip next time for sure. I use to buy our service trucks where I work and I know how it is suppost to work and kept getting BS. All the fleet managers I had worked with had retired, the new crop at our dealerships don't have a clue and are not true truck men. They don't want to learn the business the proper way and rather sell lot trucks.
Sorry, I just had flash backs of my last truck order.
