My salesperson that sold me a Bullitt Mustang at X Plan told me what he was making, but it was a bit more than that Maybe it's different on the truck or maybe because it was a year and a half ago. Regardless, I hooked him up with a nice gift certificate to Carrabba's Italian Restaurant a couple weeks after the sale so he and his wife could at least eat
No offense Wayne, but do you go to McDonalds or Taco Bell and pay more than the food costs so those people can eat too?? Obviously, money is important to you, and its important to me too. I don't want to spend any more than I have to, which means getting the best deals that I can on everything.
If your starving, maybe your in the wrong job. We are in the USA, we can do anything that we want to do.
I am sorry, but I am just getting tired of everyone complaining. It's like those tip jars everywhere. People buy things, which the cost includes labor, and EVERYONE wants tips these days. Sorry, but I am not giving money away to someone who is supposed to work to earn it!

I can think of 2 or 3 car salesmen in my sordid carbuying history that I would much rather starve. (they gladly would have done the same to me as long as I left my wallet after starving)

Yeah, the guy we bought our '97 from back in 11/96 was a hoot. His parting shot was "if I never hear the word 'internet' again it will be too soon." He really didn't like someone knowing what he thought only he knew. Joke's on him if he didn't eventually accept the new information age, though!
My latest deal went fine, and I assume he is compensated properly when I buy X-plan. Heck, if he shares in any of the profit from the lowball trade-in they gave me on the X, he'll have a very Merry Christmas indeed... But he doesn't deserve the starving treatment, that was my fault for not having sold it myself earlier.

Please do not take offense, my comments are general.
It's a competitive world out there Wayne..
Tell it to the small businessman who is in direct competition of Wal-Mart or Target..
BTW, where do you shop?
Don't expect any handouts, in fact, you better get out the Chapstick and double up..
The world of sales is a tough nut for everyone involved.
You have to be bigger, cheaper, better and friendly to even compete...
My salesman has earned my respect from my last truck. I'll slip him a $100.00 dollar bill at closing, with a thank you card.
This time, he took care of X plan pin for me, held my 315 and never any BS..
Great guy who is doing well, and I know why the dude sold over 250 units himself last year, and was FOURTH out of 55 in sales.
First was almost at 400...
Needless to say, the dealership has a great rep.
That's where it all begins if YOU are to make a good living..
Cochise here. It's all rolling iron to me and that's what I want it to do, roll in the door and right back out. I'm greatfull for every unit that rolls thru Lone Star Ford and out the door to you guys. Someone get me a tissue! I feel a tear welling up!
Georgie! My Christmas Basket Where oh where could it be!?

Cochise,
Georgie here.
You are a little hard to teach, and I understand some are just not equipped....
When you refrain from calling other dealers "inept", and learn that this insulting approach is not in good taste, even if they are inept, may help get you on Santa's list!
But I doubt it...
Please behave, I want to come down there and let you meet me!
George, I'm with you on the "if you can't say something nice..." theory, but *MAN* there are some inept dealers out there, and there is just no other way to describe it!!! (See also: the thread in another forum about how oil leaks and plugging the truck in at 30 degrees to get it to run are normal, plus the other one about the new Excursion 4x4s having independent front suspension...)

You should have heard the dealer across the street when the first intercooled 99's rolled in.
They explained to me that the radiator worked as a "ram air" device, like a hood scoop to allow more HP.
What fun that was..
Now, they were inept as it could get. Entertaining, but inept, and they did a wonderful job pointing that out all by themselves.
Yeah, sure, I'll place my order with you guys...
I would love to come to Houston right now. Cold, snowy and miserable outside my window, and the local BBQ ..well..It ain't Texas...
Bills suck and the Sabres are even worse.
Problem is that my sled is still scattered in various parts bins all across America.
You could fly me in and take me out to dinner, huh?
I'm down to 650,000 air miles and have to budget them....
Good God Wayne are you trying to make us feel sorry for you, sorry I dont and I doubt if anyone else does ether, because you see the old days of the customers being treated like mushrooms where the dealers and the salesmen kept us in the dark and feed us horse-s--t are long gone, your now dealing with a new and better informed customer, so from now on when you and your other salesmen buddy's gather at the locale watering hole after work your going to haft to laugh and tell jokes about something else besides the ones about the customers you screwed over and shafted for there hard earned money. I look forward to the day I can walk into a dealer and buy or order a new car or truck just like I order a double cheese burger and pay one set price like everyone else in the U.S.A and make no bones about it that day is near, and by the way Wayne hold the pickle please .
