DORA

DORA. No, it's not just a neat name for a lady. It's also an acronym for an important piece of paper - the Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgment.

When your dealer orders a new vehicle from Ford, the next business day he receives an electronic message with the DORA. The DORA confirms exactly what was ordered. You should demand a copy of the DORA for any vehicle you ordered, and double check all the order codes to be certain Ford is building you exactly what you thought you ordered.

There are two versions of the DORA. The standard version is unpriced. But if the dealer inputs order code C09 with the order, then the DORA will be priced. If you ordered your truck based on an "X dollars over invoice" deal, then you want a copy of a priced DORA. If the dealer didn't ask for a priced DORA with the order, he can process an "alter-order" transaction any time with order code C09 to get a free copy the next business day.

Louder printed me out a current DORA for a high-dollar new truck. Here's what it looks like:

To save typing, I scanned a real DORA into a text file, which messed up the formatting. So I then reformatted it with a text editor. When the text file looked like the real DORA, then I enclosed it in the UBBcode {code}...{/code} [except replace the braces with square brackets]

For example, the next two pairs of lines are identical, except the second one is enclosed in {code}...{/code}

I am a really cool cat!
1 2 3 4 5 6
<pre>
I am a really cool cat!
1 2 3 4 5 6 </pre>
Without the {code}...{/code} the UBBThreads software throws out all tabs and spaces except one space between each word.

To see other UBBcode possibilities, scroll up to the top of this screen and click on "FAQ" (not "faqs"). Then scroll down until you see the stuff on HTML and UBBcode.

Re: DORA

Smokey,
I was looking for information on what exactly a DORA is and found your info on the search, nice job!

I placed my order with my local dealer last week and like most guys here I am trying to get as much info as possible. When I placed the order my dealer told me that the order would be submitted and they would call me back in when Ford accepted the order.? He said that we would go over the specs with me just to make sure everything was right and then it would be confirmed with Ford. When I go back in I will request the DORA.

BTW: Thanks Cochise for answering all my emails and your help.

Re: DORA

Is the "FDAF" the delivery charge? It's $340.00 for my truck here in Tucson.

Re: DORA

FDAF is Ford Dealer Advertising Fund. It is a fixed amount of money per unit that each dealer pays the Mothership for advertising focused in each zone. The cost will vary from zone to zone. I am in the Packerland Zone of the Chicago Region. So every car delivered to any dealer in the Packerland zone will have the same FDAF fee. I also have a store in the Northwoods Zone, they pay about $50 per unit more in that zone (they are also in the Twin Cities Region).

Did I confuse you enough?

Destination/Delivery charges are another fixed charge on the invoice but they are usually the same for each type of vehicle from dealer to dealer regardless of location.

Both FDAF and Dest/Delivery are included in the Invoice Total box.

Some dealers add another "delivery fee" on their contracts. They will say this is for cleanup and inspection and processing paperwork. I will let you decide on the merits of this fee.

Re: DORA

Smokey

Just curious how do the dealers recieve this, via an email or somehow else? Also does the DORA get to the dealer after the order is picked up by Ford or is it automatic the day after you place an order?

Re: DORA

I'm not confused yet, you'll have to try harder! I'm assuming the FDAF can be charged to any invoice? I know the "paper processing" fee can't be charged to a Z plan purchase, which mine is. Thanks!

Re: DORA

The Z-Plan price is the exact same as the A-Plan (farthest to the right on the bottom of the invoice). This works a little different than most pricing. In the A/Z/D plans Ford pays the dealer a commission for selling the vehicle. Everything to the left of the A-Plan box just "disappears" from the buyers perspective.

You are right that dealers are not supposed to charge any additional dealer "fees". You should also get any applicable dealer rebates (not that there are any on the Superduties right now).

<blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr>

<hr></blockquote> Sort of an in-house e-mail or computer-network report from the Ford Vehicle Operations Processing Center (VOPC). <blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr>

Also does the DORA get to the dealer after the order is picked up by Ford or is it automatic the day after you place an order?

<hr></blockquote> It's automatic the next business day after the VOPC processes the order (or the alter-order). So the first one won't include a VIN or some other details.

DORA Option 18 or 23 " US Gal Gas"

My 2002 order book shows long box=38 gal tank (Opt 23),
Short box= 29 gal (opt 18?)

Is that basically "it" as far as fuel tanks go Smokey-no difference btw gas 'n diesel I suppose ?
Here in Canada, the "big" tank is listed as 144 LITERS

<hr></blockquote> On pickups, that's it.

On chassis cabs, it's a little more option. 40-gallon is standard. It goes behind the rear axle, where the spare tire is located in a pickup. 19-gallon is optional. So you can have either one or both. The problem with the 19-gallon midships tank is most aftermarket truck bodies don't allow it to be there - it's in the way of side-mounted lower tool boxes/storage compartments. Even some flatbeds with lower compartments don't allow it. So if you order a chassis cab, know the specs on your intended bed/body before you order the optional fuel tank.

Re: DORA Option 18 or 23 " US Gal Gas"

Just got this stock order truck scheduled for a build date during the week of 5-20-02. No delivery date yet, but best guess is mid June. Price went up on List to $42660 and cost $37529. First stock order F350 we have had scheduled since last fall. Any takers at $38129 + TTL, no paperwork fees or clean up fees, just $38129 +TTL.
