Re: Drop shipment.
Lots of folks have ordered new PSDs from Bobby Williams or Cochise Willis and had them drop-shipped to a local dealer near where they live. I haven't heard of any regrets.
I discussed it with my local dealer and asked if he treats his drop-ship deliveries any different than a delivery of a new vehicle to a customer that bought from him. "Nope, no different." He needs that Blue Oval certification, and his drop-ship customers get to vote the same as if they bought the truck there.
As far as service, you'll get the same (or maybe a tad better) than the customer who bought it there - they want your business next time you buy a new vehicle.
With one caveat. If Smokey Wren shows up with a busted truck and needs it in a hurry, then he would try to sneek mine into the shop ahead of someone that bought their truck elsewhere and had it drop-shipped for him to deliver. But that happens only once in a blue moon.
