Dual Alternators ~ Performance hit?

I heard the dual alternators decrease engine performance somewhat due to a mod they have to make at the factory to the turbo downpipe?? Is is true? If, so how much? If you were hauling a 12K Fiver, would it cause you to reconsider? Have not seen specs on this so it be just hooey??

Re: Dual Alternators ~ Performance hit?

It's just a small flattened section on the intercooler tube, I highly doubt that it will affect engine performance.

I have dual alternators on my truck and I don't feel they hurt performance at all. I've pulled a couple of 10K loads of coal up some pretty steep hills this winter.
I've also took a couple trips down the drag strip in the summer.
So yes, I think its "hooey".
