F-550 V10 Bi-Fuel Production Date??

I have an F550, V10 Bi-Fuel (lpg), 4x4, drw, crew cab, 174", leather, CD changer, polished aluminum wheels, tow pkg., snow plow pkg., loaded on order (ordered 9/6. The problem I have is that I cannot get any kind of concrete info on the estimated delivery date. The propane conversion is a factory option deal...

(AZ has a significant grant / tax incentive for alternative fuel vehicles as well as the 5k incentive from the feds)

My Flagstaff dealer doesn't have any idea. Calls to over a dozen fleet dealers and sales mgrs. say from 6 weeks to 9 months. That is a big discrepancy.

When can I expect this vehicle? As of today, no DORA or VIN.

You won't get a VIN until you get a scheduled build week.

But you should have received the DORA only a day or so after the Ford order computer accepted your order.

According to the latest order guide for the F-550, you should have been able to order the bi-fuel truck. Check with your dealer and be sure your order was accepted by the CONSEPs order computer. If the order didn't reject, then your dealer should have received the DORA a day or so later. If the order rejected, what was the reason for the reject? Did CONSEPs kick out a note that the order would be on hold? Even if the order is on hold because of the bi-fuel stuff, you should still get a DORA showing that the order was accepted.

I did get my saleperson to fax the order DORA today. He has covered the area with all the pricing to the right (looking at the sample DORA that you posted.

Ordered on 9/6
Order reciept date 9/7
DORA processed 9/20
Order type 1
Order C363
vin AW5TZ 1

Now, like the other posting(s), how to track to find out anything is my question???

Will it be delivered before the end of the year?

There are two different types of DORA. The default is an unpriced DORA, so that may be what you are looking at. Since your unit hasn't been scheduled, ask your dealer to process a change order and add option code C09 {priced DORA}. It's free, and will let you know exactly how much you're going to pay - assuming you have an invoice plus deal.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Now, like the other posting(s), how to track to find out anything is my question??? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

The only current way we can discuss is to get friendly with your dealer. He receives a daily update report, a weekly summary report, and he has a hotline phone number he can call to check on just one order. If you get in bed with your dealer, perhaps he'll show you how to call on the hotline and get the info yourself instead of bugging him.

Mike, that's a $64 question. I haven't heard a thing about the bi-fuel production, so I suspect it's not on hold. But perhaps they just haven't cranked up production yet? Or it may be the typical order that will be scheduled about a month after the DORA and produced about 6 weeks after the DORA and delivered about 8 weeks after the DORA.

Re: F-550 V10 Bi-Fuel Production Date??

Hi Michael,
I too, am getting in on the alt fuels deal. I went with CNG, though, because I wanted to be able to refuel at home. And I had to have a conversion because Ford only offered it in an F150. I wish they offered a 450 or 550 in CNG dual fuel. I reread the refund/grant info and found that because of the GVW wording, you may be paying less than me for more truck! Any way, where did you find about the federal incentives? Also, did you get an acknowledgement for your pre-application? I sent mine in over a month ago and haven't received anything. I sure hope they don't try to renig on their deal with buyers who already put money down (you know about the change the Governor wants to make.)

I did get the confirmation. Ordered 9/6, Confirmation from Az Dept. of Commerce on 9/17.

I think we are safe as far as the Governor. They announced in a news release yesterday that those who have thier order in will get the deal as stated. (grant money out...we will get the voucher with our state taxes). However, now, they just released that those who apply after Oct. 1 will have to spread their $$$ over 5 years.

Yes, I looked at all the options. I will end up paying less for the 550 than the 350.

Also, the federal tax credit is for those who own a business. Check out the federal alternative fuel tax incentives.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Here is the IRS website for that federal incentive. Total incentive for my vehicle = $35,000
http://www.irs.gov/forms_pubs/pubs/p5351501.htm

$5000 for GVW &gt; 10,000
$2000 for GVW &lt; 10,000

Thanks Michael.

I just learned from that site that I'll also be able to write off 100% of the cost of my home refueling station AND get the state refund!
