Re: F350 12500 GVWR option?
No. The max GVWR on a pickup is 11,500.
The F-350 DRW cab and chassis is a different animal than the F-350 DRW pickup. Much heavier rear suspension - the pickup has 6 leaves in the rear springs, while the cab & chassis has 12). Narrower and longer frame. So it really does have a higher GVWR than the pickup.
But before you spend the money for an F-350 cab and chassis, compare it to the F-450. You can get very close to the same LS rear end (4.10 vs. 4.30). The F-350 has a GVWR of 12,500 and the F-450 has a GVWR of 15,000. The aftermarket bed or tow body will cost the same. So compare the price of the F-350 with an identically-equipped F-450 and then decide if the extra 2,500 pounds of payload is worth the cost. If you'll be right on the verge of overloading with the F-350, then I suspect the piece of mind of the extra margin with the F-450 would be worth a lot.
