F350 Ordered, but AIC??

I spent the morning negotiating, and ordered, an F350 7.3L SD SRW CC Lariat. But, the Ford computer deleted option 96P (AIC) as "NA Lariat." Seems that normally an item that is listed as an option for the XLT but not for the Lariat means that it is standard equipment, but I do not see this item listed under Lariat equipment. After reading so much discussion of this item here on the list I decided it would be a useful device, especially since I could get it at invoice price. Neither sales, parts, nor service department (skeleton force on Sat. morning) could explain. Can someone enlighten me please??

Kansas,

Cochise here. Welcome to Ford-Diesel.Com.

AIC is not available on/with the Lariat Pkg.. You would need to secure one after the fact.

Support thoses that support Ford-Diesel.Com.

www.dreamwater.org/biz/idlekit/

Is the link to Gene Louder at White Motor co. in Stanton Texas. It is a Ford dealership that sells them about as cheap as anyone.

Chec and make sure your dealer cannot order it seperatly for you because they are cheaper when it can be gotten with the new vehicle. Heck he could put it in for you also.

Good luck

Re: F350 Ordered, but AIC??

Thanks for the input of how to obtain the AIC separately, and I plan to pursue that.....but still, I wonder why is it "Not Available" for the Lariat when it is shown under LIMITED PRODUCTION OPTIONS for the XL/XLT, giving the impression that it can be factory-ordered on those models? As I understand it, the unit is shipped "in the cab" and is to be installed by either the dealer or buyer. So, if it is not installed anyway, then howcum "NA" on Lariat? Curious.

Re: F350 Ordered, but AIC??

It can be factory ordered on those models (XL and XLT), just not on the Lariat. Consider it one of those little quirks where people with no concept about real world uses for the truck figure that if you wanted leather, you weren't really going to work the truck.

Actually, I was told by a Ford exec at one point in time that they discontinued the APCM on the Lariat because statistics didn't bear out that it was being ordered often enough.

You are correct that is is simply in the back of the truck at delivery. Not difficult to install.
