"fleet"

I'm ordering a F450 with 6L. Some dealers ask me if I am "fleet". How does one get to be a fleet purchaser? Do you really save any money buying "fleet"?

Re: "fleet"

I think you get some interesting options available to you if you're fleet, for instance custom paint colors, and certain otherwise-forbidden combinations of high and low end options. I'm sure a lot of F450 buyers are fleet purchasers, which is why they ask the question.

As I understand it, you need to be a real business and have a special pre-arranged fleet customer ID, etc. To kick off that sort of arrangement supposedly takes a minimum order of 5 trucks.

(I'm sure Cochise and Bobby can fill on the details, like whether there is any financial advantage to fleet status...)

garlec,

In order to become a "True" fleet buyer, you must apply for a FIN Code, which stands for Fleet Identification Number. In order to qualify for a FIN code you must purchase 5 vehicle in the same year, or have over 15 vehicles in your fleet.

Re: "fleet"

Do radio control cars, bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, good walking shoes, motorcycles, skis, second bicycles, snowshoes, and ice skates count as "vehicles"? If they do, then darn if I'm not a "fleet" owner.

No, but you're liable to attract attention from the local zoning commission!! (Here's hoping you live out in the country, or somewhere that they don't have busybodies bothering you...)

Well, technically, yes as long as they are registered in a business name and are motorized vehicles
