FX4 interior on 450 questions

I am seriously considering ordering an 08 F-450, but I'm a little disappointed in how Ford has set up the trim levels...... I'm not a big fan of the Lariat "wood", and since they no longer make a grey interior, the FX4 interior is the one that I'd like. But, you can't get an FX4 F-450 (not that I like the FX4 grill, anyway). I'm guessing it'd cost a fortune to change out all the interior pieces from Lariat to FX4 trim.

So, does anybody have any suggestions? Is it possible to "special order" an off-spec interior?

Nope. Not from Ford.

If you just gotta have an F-450 and you just gotta have the FX4 interior, any decent body shop can fix you up. Not cheap.

Do you really need the extra payload capacity of the F-450? You can order an F-350 DRW with the TowBoss pkg that will give you the same 26k GCWR and the same 4.30 axle ratio as the stock F-450.

My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it last year. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat.

Re: FX4 interior on 450 questions

Well, my race trailer is about 17-18k, so I'm bumping the limits of an F-350, even with the TowBoss. Plus the 19.5 wheels and the bigger brakes on the F-450 are pretty desirable to me........ Decisions, decisions. Maybe I just wait to see what the 2009s bring?

Re: FX4 interior on 450 questions

The F-450 pickup with the high capacity towing package will get you to 33,000 GCWR, but it comes only with the 4.88 rear end. You'll love the 4.88 for towing your race trailer, but it won't be a very good commuter car when not towing.

Why not go hog wild and get the F-450 King Ranch? The darker leather interior is really nice.

Re: FX4 interior on 450 questions

Yes, the KR is a possibility....... I do like the copper paint and the KR leather. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the tan interior/lower accent paint/bumper trim/bed rail caps, and I'd still have the Lariat "wood". My wife says she does like the tan interior (not that she spends much time in my truck), and I haven't had a chance to take a good look at the Medium Stone interior yet. So, like I said decisions, decisions!!!

It would just be SO much easier for me if they offered the FX4 interior on the F-450.
