Highly polished alloy XLT wheel returns

I have just seen an 01' XLT with the alloy wheel option, and they are exactly like the wheel that FMC released on the early 99 before they decided to cheapen up the finish on the 99.5.
For those of you who have an XLT on order, I highly recommend ditching the chrome wheel and spend the extra bucks and get alloy wheels.
Major improvement.

Re: Highly polished alloy XLT wheel returns

I ordered the chrome wheels because I didn't like the "plain" aluminum wheels. I figured if I didn't like 'em, I could buy aftermarket wheels. But, if they're going to polish them, wellll that's different. Maybe I'll change my order.

I'd really like to have the Lariat wheel on my XLT. Anyone ordering a Lariat that doesn't want their wheels?

Re: Highly polished alloy XLT wheel returns

Question, do the Lariats come with the Alloy wheels? I want to make sure that I get them, even if I have to pay for them.

Anybody know for sure?

thank you

Re: Highly polished alloy XLT wheel returns

bkino - the Lariats come standard with alloy wheels. For sure.

Bill_C - The XLT and Lariat Dooleys come with standard alloy wheels. The XL Dooley has the steel wheels.

stevieD - I saw a 2001 XLT with the polished alloy wheels. Really nice! I agree with George - change your order. They are the same design as the 2000 XLT, except they are highly polished instead of dull painted.

All - the XLT so-called chrome steel wheel is really a plain grey steel wheel with a bright covering glued on the outside. They look o.k. from a distance, but from up close and personal they look like thin cheap Wal-Mart wheel covers on a plain steel wheel. IMHO.
