Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

I went with the X-plan after ordering my truck. My dealer is great. We ordered the truck at invoice in his office and he says there's the price. I read up on the X-plan here and easily found a number from a good member in Michigan. After calling my dealer the next day he says sure we'll sell you the truck under X-plan, it'll save you a few hundred bucks. By the way I didn't mess with a salesman, or sales manager, went right to the owner. He was very happy to order a new truck and has been great sense then as I have added several options over the last 10-days. I am looking at the 'invoice' as we speak. He printed it off and sent it home with me. It took me about 5-minutes to get an X-plan pin, that's the easiest $550+ I ever made. Now if that's not real money please send me your address and I will send you a self-addressed stamped envelope and you can mail me a check for that amount, I would appreciate the extra cash.

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

[ QUOTE ]
As far as "how much off the sticker" goes: Go get an X-Plan Pin. This gives you (in my experience with a Sales Manager at a Large Ford Store in the vacinity) somewhere around a 2% under invoice price.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have an actual invoice in front of me. This truck is a 2008 F350 Lariat 156" that I was offered to dealer trade for, before I decided to order one equipped for me..

Price Level 815
List price: $52,930.00
Invoice Price: $48,299.92
"X" plan Price: $48,181.72
"D" plan $46,380.17
"A" & "Z" plan $46,280.17

As you can see, the "X" plan is roughly $120.00 different from Invoice, and nowhere near 2%

Anybody who falls for "sales" or time frames like "Christmas" won't grasp what we are trying to explain.
The buyer is always in position of power, not the dealer. If for one minute you think the dealer is dictating, you're done. Some have the ability to grasp this basic concept, most do not and probably never will.
So, if you "get it", and don't have an X plan pin, don't sweat it. If you can't negotiate an X plan price without a pin, well...

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

This looks just like the same sort of printout that my representative showed me. He just whipped it up real quick when I told him I have access to XPlan Pin. I was delighted to see it was so effortless.

Pardon my quick math. X Plan would be about 1/2 % under invoice on the truck I looked at. Close, but not too close. Within $500, so, its technically "near" 2%. I suppose $500 is somewhat meaningful on a $39,000 sticker. At least its not $500 over invoice!

Oh, and getting an X Plan is simple. Just know someone who works for Ford. One of my clients friends work at Ford Engine Plant, and he gives them out. Supposedly Ford hands them out like candy. You just have to ask nice. Id bet some folk on here that work at Ford's plants would give one if someone asked nicely.

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

I understood the X-plan to be .04% under invoice. The best deal (my opinion) was when they had the first employee pricing discounts. That's what got me in a new Ford to begin with. I wasn't going to get an X-pin but it was so easy I couldn't pass it up and I met a nice person to boot (thanks Jerry). If that 5-minutes on the computer and phone saves my $241 that equals $2,893/hour, not bad pay if you can find the work. I guess I just don't understand why you wouldn't get a pin Of course the cheaper the truck the less money you will save. Either way, price isn't everything. Personal relationship with dealer, service, etc. should all be taken into account. If you keep your truck for any amount of time you will NEED your dealer. BTW the dealer just told me today the build date is Aug. 13th, I'm only 60 miles away from the factory. I just might have to take a tour around that time. Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

X-plan here (wifes company). Saved $5893.00 off of sticker. Those who think it is a joke are getting jerked around by someone. X-plan I believe is 4% over invoice. With my 99 trade in I left the dealer financing $26K. Not bad on a 47k sticker.

After reading the other posts I'll have to look to see what it was over invoice as opposed to off of sticker. Hmm, food for thought.

Off by a factor of 10. It is .4% plus $75 for the poor sap that has to process your paper work.

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

[ QUOTE ]
How do you get a X-Plan pin number? I am retired and do not know if they are available to retired persons. Thanks for the help.
Don

[/ QUOTE ]
Don if your retired from FORD it should be easy, I know for GM I just go to www.gmfamilyfirst.com to get my employee discount. (Retired or active members) Ford has to have something similar. Call the plant you retired from, and ask them how to get one. And I AM SURE being retired you are eligible,,, you got to be...Unless FORD really screws their retirees!! LOL
Not real familiar with the "X" plan, I know our discount is pretty decent on GM products, but some offer bigger discounts than others, because some products have a higher profit margin than others.
Also GM has been known to NOT offer the discount on brand new design or HIGH DEMAND vehicles, For example the Cadillac XLS, CTSV, The Corvette ZO6, ect... not until they have been out a while, 6 months or so,,

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

www.fightingchance.com and at least you will know the dealer cost on the vehicle and every option plus holdbacks and rebates. It also gives actual net purchase prices from other people after they have their deals done. It has saved me a bundle. My '04 F250 lariat 6.0 loaded was a little over $36k. Cost of service is around 30 bucks.

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

As George C pointed it out why to bother for a few 100 bucks? I paid even a few 100 above invoice for my latest two GM purchases. I know I could have done better but we are talking about 1 or 2 % of the total value. Which is ok for me to leave at the dealer.

[/ QUOTE ]Must be nice to be made out of money. While it might be a small part of the total invoice it's still a couple hundred bucks out of your pocket and would pay for several tanks of fuel or most of a spray-in bedliner.

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

Just ask the dealer to see the Invoice from Ford, this is the same document George C was talking about. It shows all the plans as well as the holdback for the truck. Invoice was so close to X-plan, it was not worth the effort to track down a pin. The dealer I told you about in Utah has no problem showing you this invoice document.

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

ok i just did an online build on ford.com msrp is $60,245 with an invoice of $55,194... for a LOADED Lariat 450 sunroof instead of dvd is 55,194 the best i can do or should i demand a better price, when i go to the dealer monday i want to go in there firm and knowing what im talking about or at least sound like it im probably going to go to a couple different ones and see who wants to make a deal, right now we have over $500,000 in fords from one dealership, and they have been good to us but i feel like im getting screwed there now. they said on a 50k msrp with the $1000 bonus cash and $1000 loyalty cash i could get it for 46k! i was pissed. also should i expect $54,194 assuming there is a rebate when the truck gets here or would that be pushing it, to me i feel that i should get invoice, and if there is a rebate then that comes off too. larry miller ford truck land in SLC advertises they beat any price so i wanna shop around, go to them, then if im close to 54-55k ill go pay my dealer a visit and see what they say. am i expecting too much? sorry for the long post all. thanks in advance

Re: How Much Off Sticker Price

Just be very businesslike and ask them if they want to sell a truck today...
It's invoice, and not a cent more..
