nearly 60 grand for JUST a 250 id hate to know the price for a 350 dually or even the 450 dually probuly near 70 grand for that price id chip in nother 15000 and head over to the frieghtline dealer for a mini semi thats out of control. i remember back in 99 i got my first f-350 c.c. 4x4 dually diesel fully loaded for 43000 out the door. ford nuts. and i bet that 7.3L is 1000 times more reliabe then the 6.0L leaker or the birdnest diesel of 6.4L i think im keeping my 02which i was thinking of trading but not now and gratefull my new one was the 07 chevy dually too.

I looked at an 07 today totally loaded and it was 53,905. The added $1500.00 for the 6.4 and $1900.00 for the NAV make up the difference plus there are a lot of other items on the 08 not on the 07.
The only option not on the truck that I know of is the 20" wheels which when ordered knock the GVWR back down to 10K. The DVD system can not be had with a sunroof. Others like snow or heavy service packages are negated by other options.

If you want all the goodies-you have to pay for them. If you want a cheaper truck start cutting options and you'll get there. You can't compair the 99's to the new trucks though its like apples and oranges.
Everything cost more today, how much was a gallon of fuel in 99 or a gallon of milk for that matter, sign of the times.
Its not just Ford I looked at a optioned out Dodge mega cab and it was 56K and I'm sure Chevy will follow suit.

The Dairy Farmer in me has to reply to the price of milk reference. While I dont know the store price of milk in 99 I can buy a gallon of 2% for under $2.50 (1% and skim for $1.99). The point I would like to quickly point out is farmer prices are the same as they were 20-30 years ago! I doubt there are too many other industries that have the same price per unit of their product in that time span....

The prices of diesel pickup's have been way too much for a long time, none of this surprises me. It will only be fueled by you guys who are salivating on becoming the next generation of guineas.................

RV'ing is becoming increasingly popular. Empty-nesters, I guess.
These people have money, and are willing to spend it. They want "the best".
If people will buy a $58k truck, there will be someone who make a $58k truck.
FYI - I bought a 99 F250 SC in May 1998 for around $28k.
I just bought a 2006 CTD MegaCab SLT for $31k.
The F250 was a nice truck, but not nearly as nice (or big) as the CTD.
Overall, I'd say the price of trucks has gone down in the last 8 years.
