Sold early 99 F-350, ext cab 4x4 w/auto. Lariat.
Ford Bought back-03 6.0 Super cab, Lariat, Long bed, 4x4, Sonic blue, FX4, camper package, Max front springs, diamond plate bed rail covers and tailgate cover, Tinted windows, spray in bed liner, 285/75/16 BF Goodrich A/t tires on American racing rims
I'll tell you next week when my truck comes in.
I am expecting the V springs. The Max just insures nothing less than the 5,200# set and a steering damper. I am hoping for the 6,000# set, but I've seen SC SWB with the MAX springs and they were the 5,200#er's.
Maybe the CC DRW will be different, but I doubt it..
Most CrewCab PSD 4x4 and some SuperCab PSD 4x4 come with 5,200 pounds front GAWR without any suspension options. All the Max front GAWR pkg will do to front GAWR is assure that you do not get less than 5,200 pounds.
The Max Front GAWR pkg guarantees you that you will get 5,200 pounds front GAWR. Plus it includes a front steering damper.
The camper pkg probably assures you'll get 5,200 pounds front GAWR too. Plus it's the only way to gat a rear sway bar. And without the camper pkg, then mounting any sort of slide-in camper voids your warranty.
Lift? No. The only way to get any front-end lift from the factory is to order the snowplow pkg - which is not available on CrewCab PSDs or longbed SuperCab PSDs.

Why is it that the snowplow package is N/A on the SC 158" or CC with PSD's? For that matter, there are a lot of restrictions between the Camper Pkg, Snow Plow Pkg, Hvy Svc Suspension Pkg, Max Front GAWR, etc. Presumably, to an extent it is because of overlap in the package content. However, that doesn't explain the Snow Plow restriction.
Is there a place that explains exactly what you get with each one of these packages? In other words, something more than, "You can't have X package if you ordered the Y package." That doesn't tell a person much.
Thanks.

On Order: 2005 F350, CC, PSD, 172" wb, FX4, DRW, 4.10 LS, King Ranch -- with every option but moonroof (that would just mean I would get rain on the leather seats when I forget to close it someday) and adjustable pedals (tall enough I don't need the pedals moved)

[/ QUOTE ] The max front GAWR on any SuperDuty 4x4 pickup is 5,200 pounds. Probably limited by the front axle. When you choose the heavy body combined with the heavy engine combined with 4x4, then add one skinny driver and one skinny passenger and a tank full of fuel with a little balast in the bed, there is not enough front GAWR left to mount even a light snowplow without exceeding the front GAWR.
And Ford will not sell you a truck that would cause you to exceed any weight limit when the truck is used for it's intended purpose. Imagine the fun the lawyers would have if they did!
So if you want a PSD crewcab snow thrower, Ford makes it. It's called the F-450. But if you don't want to move up to an F-450 with it's 6,000-pound front GAWR, then you can't have a CrewCab PSD 4x4 snow thrower.

Thanks Smokey! I find it amazing that a SuperDuty pickup with more than a regular cab and a PSD isn't handle a snowplow too. Seems to cheapen the meaning of SuperDuty a little...
Also, do you know of a resource that can answer the 2nd part of my previous post? Where can one find out exactly what you get with each of the packages. Of course people talk about getting a steering damper with a package, but how do they know before actually looking?
On a side note, how do you know so much about these rigs? I swear you must know more than the Ford engineers. Where in the world do you get all this information? It seems you only answer questions on this site, not ask them...
Thanks again,
David

[/ QUOTE ] I assumed you already had the ordering guide, but maybe not. That tells you almost everything the dealership people know. You can get your very own copy from our buddy Bobby Williams. He's one of our sponsors that help pay the telecom charges for the website, and posts the order guides on his website for your pleasure. I hope you'll download it from his website, then remember who takes care of you when it comes time to order your new rig. http://www.sunrisefordfleet.com/
In reply to:

[/ QUOTE ] I read a lot. Several hours a day on this website. The order guides mentioned above. Plus Gene Louder, the GM at my local dealership, is a member of this website and he provides me with the official Ford spec books and stuff so I can keep up with what's going on. Add to that my lifelong hobby as a "car nut", my superior education in business and accounting and computer systems, plus a 3-year stint as a "car salesman" back in the days of the Hemi-Charger, mixed with the pure pleasure of being an admin on this website, and there you have it.
