Having ordered a '01 PSD Lariat, Crew Cab,SRW, Harvest Gold, 4x4, manual hubs, auto, etc., etc., etc., and getting a VIN and build date of 4/16, I was advised it was being built in Mexico. When did that change? Guess I have been gone awhile thought they were all bult here in the US. Delivery expected first week of May, then off to California for a short trip. Hope the electricity is "on" to pump a few gallons of diesel. Sounds like many of you have certainly enjoyed your "wheels', look forward to mine. Stay safe all and between the lines..!!

About a year ago. One plant couldn't keep up with demand, so Ford opened a second plant, just outside Mexico City.

Birdman -- I share your concerns, but in the past, Ford has shut down the Cuautitlan, Mexico plant. In fact, it is down the week of 4/9/2001. I personally cringe when one of our units is scheduled for Cuautitlan but only because it means about 10 extra days of transit. Build quality appears very strong.
i am buying a used f-250 cc,psd,auto,xlt,4X4, with ALL the bells, it was built in mexico( unhappy with that fact), but price is right. sticker was 40,135 & has ford bedliner, bug&vent sheilds all for 31,000 has 4343 miles and is a 2001, if i was to order again I would cancel if it was not made in USA. Support American workers!!!!!
Heck when I seen the title to this post I thought you guys were talking about spinning around hitting a Pinata or something. Only stopping 10 degrees short of a full spin around. Thats what I am 10 degrees short of a full spin most of the time!

When you order, is there any way to guarantee that the truck is built in the US? I had a VW built in Mexico in '97, and it was a total P.O.S. After complaining to VW of America, they replaced it with a brand new '98 also built in Mexico. As I was driving off the lot, part of the clutch mechanism (a spring) fell onto my foot. The passenger-side electric mirror didn't work, the steering wheel was set at 2 o'clock when driving straight, and the end of the gearshift lever would vibrate about 1" driving in first. All this despite assurances that the Germans were controlling production. I want a truck built in the US.
I shared your concerns when I learned my F-350 was to be made in Mexico. I've had it for two months now, and as hard as I look I can't find anything wrong with it. Except the parking brake release lever hitting my shin every shift (I solved the problem by moving it), and extremely thin paint (which I heard was thin to meet environmental regulations). I'd even tolerate a "Proudly Made In Mexico' sticker on it, if it came with one.
